P17 debut in Coronado!! Made just about every rookie mistake, dragged my team but we kept fighting and the result shows. Stage 1 and 2 was about surviving. I knew we had pace left in the chamber and in the end of Stage 3 it showed. I felt like we had a @fordracing F150 to contend with at the end, thanks @team_reaume for the huge opportunity to do what I love in the city I love. Way too many to thank, but sincerely, thank you to everyone who’s believed in me and supported me, I hope I made you all proud. #nascar taken in Coronado Island by @austinvarco

NASCAR Naval Base Coronado returning in 2027, reflecting on an amazing year of opportunities…

Truthfully It’s been a hard year, my grandma passed from Alzheimer’s last winter, I missed out on moments with her and lots of life chasing this dream.

Some assume I’m blowing a trust fund doing this, but the truth is, this is my job and I’m scraping by. I’m not NASCAR royalty. My parents have normal careers and my dad gave up a racing dream to support us. I’m carrying the torch to prove our name could be something special in racing. Without them, YOU, and every sponsor that has ever given me a shot I don’t have the opportunity to work hard and represent my community, my hometown, my family.

It’s a cutthroat industry, many if not most are backed by family money and don’t have to decide between the gym or the sim and proposals or activations. That’s life though, and I don’t know about you but I like a good underdog story.

This dream has taught me nothing is impossible. If they can do it, YOU can. It won’t be easy, the odds are stacked against you. But you get to where you want to be not by believing you can, but by never believing you couldn’t.

With that said I am proud and excited to announce I am focusing on putting together a full time season of @arca_racing in 2027. I believe this is a great platform to showcase my talent, provide excellent value for my partners, and raise awareness for ASD on a massive scale. This is a tremendous goal, and will be very difficult. Even a like on this post helps me get closer to it!

In the mean time, I’m excited to get back to NASCAR local racing this fall with the @specialneedzcoffee and my amazing local partners highlighted all fall.

Resilience.

Yesterday was a tough one. At the start I put myself in a difficult position on the dirty side of the racetrack to avoid getting myself packed, and ultimately caused carnage which ripped our nose apart. Split second I felt like if I opened the line up I’d be 4 wide middle which was an equally bad position. I feel terrible I impacted others’ days. Not a highlight moment and I learned from it.

From there we battled aero issues, humid heat, and DVP with the nose falling apart as the race went by. Lap 24, we were 5 laps down, dead last, water temp high, my visor gets locked shut and I’m exhausting 150°+ air on my face. I started getting really nauseous, feet tingling, and every time I opened my mouth to talk I puked.

Ego or stupidity, I convinced myself into making it to the stage break, the team threw ice on me and I managed to break my visor to pour ice water on my face. From there, we fought. Balancing water temps and more carnage, lucky dogs, we made our way back to the lead lap on the final restart and salvaged a day keeping the car clean otherwise and picked off a bunch of positions in the last laps. I’m so proud of and thankful for my team. They never gave up on me. We could have walked away, but we stayed in it and that shows the heart of this team.

As much of a character builder this one was, thank you to my family, friends, and my sponsors, big and small, for making this day brighter than it should’ve been and holding hope with me. #arca #nascar taken in Portland International Raceway by @austinvarco

Last year in Portland, my first laps in a big heavy stock car. Met and raced a hero, the late Greg Biffle, learned every lap, kept it clean and had a good day overall. But most don’t see the work that went into it…

Opportunities in this sport are hard to come by as it is, especially when you’re 10 years late, not a model, and stressing about money so you don’t have time to turn laps on the sim let alone test. Months leading up to this race I was scraping by, late on my payments, working construction and spending the remaining waking hours looking for companies and people to believe in me. I sent 1000 hand signed mailers out selling ticket packages and didn’t get one single reply. At one point I was firing so many emails out my email was disabled and I had to start another one. Rejection went from something I feared to something I embraced because it meant I tried. It was a miracle and God’s plan that we even made it.

Every race after this one has been the same story; but the feeling I got succeeding at something, achieving a stupid goal to go in circles, was worth every second of the work.

So… with amazing sponsors behind me and the same hungry mindset I’m ready to lay it on the line like every other time, get up on that wheel, go really fast, and see what we can do.
