Come join us in Nigeria on another edition of our highly sought after Southwest group tour! This will be the seventh edition of the trip!

The dates are April 3-11, 2027.

This is not a typical tour. Over nine days we will take you through Southwest Nigeria in a way that reveals the country in all of its contrasting complexity. From a UNESCO World Heritage Site where traditional Yoruba religion is still actively practiced, to the modern skyscrapers, art galleries, and restaurant scene of Lagos. From the most significant slave trade history site in West Africa to vibrant markets, waterfalls, cooking classes, and nightlife.

You don’t want to miss this experience!

The price is $2,700 for single occupancy or $2,200 for double occupancy. All tours, accommodation, transfers, activities and daily breakfast included. Not included: flights, visa fees, lunch and dinner.

The tour begins in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s dynamic capital, where history, food, and daily life offer a powerful introduction to the country. From there, fly south to Jinka and spend three nights exploring the remote tribes of the Omo Valley, known for their strong cultural traditions, distinctive body art, and time-honored ways of life.

The journey concludes in Mogadishu, Somalia’s coastal capital and one of the world’s least-visited cities. Enjoy time at Lido Beach, explore the markets, sample traditional camel milk, and experience a city that offers rare insight for travelers seeking truly uncommon cultural encounters.

This is Nigeria! 🇳🇬

We just completed our first ever group tour to Nigeria and it was a smashing success!

We had 10 travelers from five different countries join us for this 8 day trip through Southwest Nigeria. They got to see the real authentic beauty of this country in a way that very few are able to do.

We put our all into building this itinerary and making it an authentic portrayal of Nigeria from all different angles.

We are at the Palace of the Ooni of Ife who is the paramount ruler of all Yoruba people.

The Ooni of Ife is the traditional ruler of Ile-Ife, the ancient city regarded in Yoruba tradition as the spiritual birthplace of the Yoruba people.

He is widely respected as one of the highest traditional authorities and a symbolic father figure whose influence extends across Yoruba communities in Nigeria and the diaspora.

The Ooni serves as a custodian of Yoruba history, culture, and sacred traditions, presiding over important festivals, rituals, and cultural events that preserve the heritage of one of Africa’s largest ethnic groups.

❌🇳🇬 Everyone warned me about Nigeria… 😱‼️

This market completely changed my expectations of Lagos. 🇳🇬

Arena Market has a bit of everything: clothes, fresh food, livestock, and some of the friendliest people I’ve met in Nigeria. The atmosphere is busy but not overwhelming, and almost everyone welcomed us with a smile.

One thing I always do when filming: ask first. If someone is happy to be on camera, I’ll often buy something or leave a small tip as a thank you. That simple gesture goes a long way and creates genuine interactions.

Of course, not everyone wants to be filmed, and that’s perfectly okay too. Respect always comes first.

A bag of water? 🤷🏽‍♂️ I had NO IDEA this existed… 🇳🇬💧

In Nigeria, you don’t always buy a bottle of water… you buy a bag of water.

For just ₦50 (less than 5¢) you can buy a so-called Pure Water. It is around 4x cheaper than bottled water, and there’s even a technique to drinking it.

Let’s just say… I needed a little coaching from my friend @authentic_traveling 😂

It’s one of those small everyday things that makes traveling so much fun. You think you’ve seen it all, and then a simple bag of water teaches you something new.

Traveling Nigeria is one big adventure! 🫶🏼

🇳🇬 In no other West African country I came across this! So I didn’t expect Nigeria to have it either… 🤷🏽‍♂️

One of the biggest surprises during my trip to Lagos wasn’t the food, the markets or the traffic… it was discovering a modern railway running right through the city.

@authentic_traveling told me it connects Lagos with cities like Ibadan and Abeokuta, and just as we were talking about it… the train actually came flying past. 😅

I genuinely didn’t expect this side of Nigeria, and it’s moments like these that remind me why I love traveling: every destination has surprises that completely challenge your assumptions!

A legit train in Nigeria? Now I want to train travel in Nigeria. 🤗

🇳🇬 The Nigerian Army Shopping Arena in Ikeja, Lagos 🇳🇬

If you want to experience the real Lagos this is the place to go.

The Arena is one of the city’s largest open-air shopping complexes, with hundreds of stalls selling just about everything you can imagine.

From electronics and football jerseys to fresh vegetables, livestock, fabrics, household goods and local street food… you can literally spend hours wandering around. It’s a true local shopping experience.

I picked up a Nigerian Super Eagles jersey and explored the market together with my friend Chris.

But what impressed me even more than the shopping were the Nigerian people!

Everywhere we went, people greeted us with a smile, asked where I was from and were genuinely curious.

Filming wasn’t a problem either. Of course, I always asked before taking photos or videos, and if someone took the time to chat or pose for the camera, I’d buy something from their stall or leave a small tip.

Even ₦500 (around $0.30 USD) can go a long way and it’s a small gesture that is hugely appreciated.

Another thing I absolutely loved? Communication was effortless. Since English is Nigeria’s official language, talking to people, asking questions and learning about daily life was incredibly easy.

After traveling through all West African countries where mostly French is the main language, it made exploring Lagos feel even more accessible.

This was one of my very first local travel experiences in Nigeria, and it couldn’t have been a better introduction…

Friendly people, amazing energy, endless things to discover and a market that truly reflects everyday life in Lagos.
