Friday night was a little food adventure.

We had such a fun dinner with friends at @authenticethioafrican , trying Ethiopian cuisine, and I have to say… the food AND the experience were amazing.

Sharing the food, eating with our hands, trying different flavors… definitely not our typical Friday night dinner, and that’s what made it so much fun.

And of course, you know I wasn’t leaving without trying the Ethiopian coffee experience.

They bring out the coffee with incense and the whole experience has a tradition behind it. We were told that after 3 cups, you may experience a little “spiritual transformation.”

Well… I only took a sip, so apparently I’m still the same Lanie.

But the coffee? REALLY good. And considering Ethiopia is known as the birthplace of coffee, I had to at least give it a try.

@minu_.rastogi and Rajiv, we love our dining adventures with you two. Thank you for always being willing to try something new with us. Good food is even better when you’re sharing the experience with good friends.

Good food. Good friends. New experiences. And coffee. Pretty much a great Friday night in my book.

If you’re looking to get out of your usual dinner routine and try something different, go check them out.

Happy 4th of July from all of us at Authentic EthioAfrican Kitchen! Anduale Hassan came to America as a refugee, and because of the opportunities this country gave him, he was able to build the restaurant you know today. We’re grateful to celebrate the American Dream and wish everyone a safe and happy Independence Day!
