Investigative Thriller Author. 🇮🇳 | Velan and Anupama Have Officially Commenced To Uncover the Shadows of the Dollar City | The Truth is a Weapon

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The release of my debut novel would have been delayed by atleast six months if not for Dr. Santosh. I was experiencing #chronicmigraine for over two years and it was a simple #chiropractic adjustment by his #healinghands which helped me overcome it in less than ten minutes.
If you ask me it was #puremagic.

As a #tokenofthanks I met him personally and presented my book.

I love it when a book makes a simple situation feel like there’s something much bigger hiding underneath.

That’s what worked for me in Velan IPS. What begins as an investigation slowly opens up into corruption, drugs, crime and much more. The story moves quickly, the characters kept me interested, and I liked how Velan and Anupama brought different sides to the investigation.

I also appreciated that the book didn’t stay serious all the way through …..the family moments and lighter bits gave the story some breathing space.

An easy, engaging thriller with a cliffhanger that definitely made me curious about what comes next.

A thriller that feels made for the big screen!

📖 Velan IPS

Some books you read and some books you can actually see playing out like a movie in your head. VELAN IPS: The Shadow Network was definitely the latter for me.

The story has crime, drugs, conspiracy, journalism, friendship, love and a determined cop at the centre of it all. And honestly, while reading it, I got major Singham vibes! 😄 That larger-than-life cop energy, the fight against a powerful network and the cinematic pace made me feel like I was watching a Bollywood thriller unfold on screen. 🎬

A few lines that stayed with me:

“They have decided to destroy youngsters by keeping them under a deluge of drugs.”

“What kind of friend would do such a thing to an unconscious girl?”

And this one really stood out for me:

“Journalism is not a job, it’s a responsibility. A responsibility that is undertaken for the welfare of the society and the people.”

There’s also a beautiful emotional thread running through the story, captured perfectly in the line:

“The countless prayers that you made will not go in vain.”

Beyond the story, the packaging is just so cute! 🥹 I loved the paper cover too , it makes the book feel really nice to hold and adds to the whole reading experience.

Overall, VELAN IPS is an engaging thriller with plenty of twists, social issues and a very cinematic feel. If you enjoy crime thrillers with cop drama + conspiracy + emotion + a little Bollywood masala, this one might just be for you.

And yes, while reading it, I kept thinking, this would make such a good Bollywood movie! 🎥🍿 by @author.darsan

Velan IPS

The ShadowbNetwork

By @author.darsan

This book really gave me the vibe of watching Singam Movie. What an amazing plot. I really want to get tge next part of it. Okay, this is about a fearless cop and a journalist working on drug cases. But it is more to it. The drugs, politics, corruption, young and teens being victims of the drugs.

The twists and all were not the expected one. In the next part will I get to know the answer for Velan's Aunt missing case? I was eagerly waiting for it. And Amudhan transformation in the end is mind blowing sequel. I guess it is going to be more brutual.

The message delivered were all exactly what the society needs. The atmosphere of Rameshwaram was just getting back my memories back when I visited there. It was so fast paced and tge story being on timeline of 11 days were all so intresting to read.

Each character played well. Kaal, Bala, Faisal all were so well played. The most loved one by me is Michelle, her boldness is really every girl needs to take up. To fight for ourself. And Anupama, she is really an great FMC and Velan is really a great Cop.

Some lines from the book ✨️

✨️ They've decided to destroy our youngsters by keeping them under a deluge of drugs.

✨️ What kind of friend would do such a thing to an unconscious girl?

✨️ Did you not see strange men coming to your village to sell drugs? Did you not know that young children are consuming alcohol and misbehaving at school? You were all silent then, but now you want the police to handle all your problems? Don't you think that as a community, you must first take care of women and children? Dont you think society must teach them how to be safe and cautious, and be with them in times of trouble, and help?

If you love thriller books with content of cop, drug dealing and loved the vibe of Cop movies like Singam then this book is really a great one.

Book Review 📖:

“The countless prayers that you made will not go in vain.”

"Journalism is not a job; it is a responsibility. A responsibility that is undertaken for the welfare of the society and the people."

Velan IPS surprised me with how quickly it pulled me into the story. What I initially expected to be a police thriller turned into a much wider story involving crime, power, secrets and a threat that feels far more dangerous as the pages go by. I enjoyed the way the story keeps opening new doors instead of giving you everything at once. It kept me curious and made me want to know what was really happening beneath the surface.

Velan was a character I genuinely enjoyed following. He has a strong presence and doesn't hesitate when things get difficult but his concern for people gives him more depth. Anupama was another character I liked, especially because of her bold nature and the way she goes after the truth. Their investigation, along with the undercover angle, brought plenty of tension to the story. There were quite a few moments where I found myself frustrated, tense and eager to see what would happen next.

The part that stayed with me after finishing the book was its focus on the effect of drugs on young lives. It adds a serious layer to the story and made me think about how easily something dangerous can become a much bigger problem when ignored. For me, that made the book more meaningful than a thriller that is only about chasing criminals. With its action, mystery, social concerns and an ending that leaves questions behind, Velan IPS gave me an interesting reading experience and definitely left me thinking about the story even after I finished it.

If you enjoy crime thrillers, action, police investigations, conspiracies and social issues, Velan IPS could be a good pick for you. It’s especially suited for readers who like fast moving plots with action and suspense.

QOTD: What makes a thriller unforgettable for you—the mystery, the characters, or the message?

E-Book Review

A suspenseful read with action, mystery, fun, and meaningful lessons.

In an era where the current generation is increasingly being exposed to drugs, corruption, and many other negative influences, Velan IPS brings a story that stands against these issues.
The story follows an honest police officer and a determined journalist who come together to uncover the truth, tackle the problems around them, and find solutions.

The book starts with suspense and keeps you on high alert till the very end. It is filled with mystery, suspense, thriller, and a little bit of fun, making it an engaging read.

While reading, I definitely got Singham and Telugu-movie vibes, especially because of the strong police character, action, and fight against wrongdoing.

What I loved most was how the author balanced the serious storyline with fun moments, family values, and meaningful lessons for today's youth and the upcoming generation.
The book is written in simple and understandable language, and the cliffhanger-like narration keeps you curious throughout.

I would definitely recommend this to readers who loved watching Singham and enjoy mystery-thriller stories with a police-action touch.
Rating: 4/5

BOOK NAME: Velan IPS: the shadow network

AUTHOR : Darsan Halan @author.darsan

💭Velan smiles gently and looks affectionately into her eyes, but doesn't speak.

💭He remembers something painful, something deep. He turns his head away and tries not to reveal his emotions.

🚨It is a fast paced investigative thriller set against the industrial backdrop of Tiruppur. The narrative unfolds over a tense two week window as a widespread, deadly drug syndicate threatens to tear through the city.

🚨At the center of this storm is Velan, an incorruptible, disciplined IPS officer whose deep sense of justice is tested when his investigation exposes corrupt political forces far beyond typical street crime.

🚨Hindered by the very institutional system he is sworn to uphold and haunted by a past injustice, Velan must decide how far he is willing to go to enforce the law.

🚨Alongside Velan stands Anupama, a fearless investigative journalist whose relentless pursuit of truth forces her path to collide directly with his covert mission.

🚨 Together with key figures like Amudhan, Moorthy, and Banujan, the cast brings a realistic, high stakes dynamic to the story.

🚨Author balances raw action with emotional depth, crafting a gritty crime thriller that keeps you hooked from the first page to the final showdown.

Velan IPS: The Shadow Network took me into a fast paced world of crime, political corruption, investigations and a conspiracy that turns out to be much bigger than it initially seems.

The story begins in Tiruppur with Additional SP Velan, who is investigating a dangerous network. But as the investigation progresses, it becomes clear that this is not just another case. There is something much bigger unfolding behind the scenes, and I really liked how the author slowly connected the different pieces of the story.

Velan definitely stood out to me. He is tough, direct and action oriented, but also has a caring side that makes him more than just the typical tough cop. Anupama was another character I enjoyed. Her fearless attitude and determination to uncover the truth added a completely different layer to the investigation.

One aspect that stayed with me was the book's focus on drug addiction and the growing danger of synthetic drugs among the younger generation. It made the story feel more relevant because beneath all the action and conspiracy, there is a serious social issue being highlighted.
I also enjoyed the investigative journalism angle.

The investigations, revelations and different threads kept making me wonder what was actually happening behind everything. The involvement of an undercover character added even more mystery to the story.

The writing is straightforward and easy to follow, and the story keeps moving with plenty of investigation, action and suspense. I especially liked that the book doesn't feel like just one isolated case. It gradually opens up into something much bigger involving corruption, politics and the future of the country.

And that ending 👀 definitely gives the feeling that the real battle is only beginning.

If you enjoy crime thrillers, police investigations, political conspiracies, action and social issues woven into the story, Velan IPS is definitely worth checking out. 📖✨
