Alexis Yard is a lifelong fantasy lover and musical theatre performer whose debut romantasy novel, Song of Ice and Soul, weaves classic enemies-to-lovers tension with something rarer in the genre: strong, emotionally rich female friendships. Much of the book came to life in audition holding rooms, on the subway, and in hotel rooms across the country while she performed nationally and internationally.

When she’s not on stage or writing stories, Alexis can be found hiking a trail, bingeing Disney classics, reading anything with magic, or hanging out with her partner, Kyle, and their two enchanting cats, Zym and Zelda.

My whole life, I’ve been a reader—especially of fantasy. In dark times, those stories were my light, and the fierce, brilliant heroines I admired helped shape who I am.

About a year ago, I stopped just reading—and started writing! As a performer, so much of my life is spent in crowded holding rooms, packed subways, and endless planes and trains so those in-between spaces became my writing desk. This book was ultimately written across 10+ states and 7 contracts—a true labor of love.

Now, I’m thrilled to take the next step! I recently submitted my manuscript to Luminary Publishing House and was honored to be named Runner-Up in their New Voices competition. They’re now helping me refine my story as we move toward publication!
