POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Over the past 3 years, I’ve helped 4 authors sell $3.62M in premium courses.

(Just a sample from 12+ clients)

Here’s the entire led source breakdown:

2.2% Substack
2.5% Instagram
2% Webinar
8.7% Website
12% Linkedin
26% Email
46% Meta Ads

This was across 7 courses and 28 cohorts.

Takeaways?

– Ads are predictable, but pricey. Start with retargeting.

– Emails are still king. You should probably spend more time making your emails better.

– Linkedin is still slept on.

– Instagram is growing, especially educational accounts. I expect this to jump to 10%+ in the next year.

- Always go multi-platform. Take your bests posts and repurpose. by @authorcmo

Note - the replication crisis holds true for most of these types of things… but repeated analysis still show impressive improvements. The Bloom 2 Sigma effect is just the most widely known case. A good one to reference as you think through the value of teaching 1:1.

You can nerd out on the specifics here:

The reason most authors don’t scale their companies is they don’t realize this universal law:

Effort is convex.

This is something Peter Thiel taught Joe Lonsdale. It resonated so much that it’s dated on the 8VC website back to 2010.

(^two of the most successful entrepreneurs and investors of all time)

Effort is convex means that the final 10% of work after something is already great doesn’t just make it 10% better, but it could be 10X better or 100X better.

The output curve bends up and steeply to the right, implying that the biggest returns happen at the end.

The problem is most people stop at good enough. And they assume that continuing to work on something only improves it marginally.

But this is often wrong.

The gains from good enough to great can be huge.

So coming back to authors.

As you’re trying to grow a business beyond your books, whether that’s courses, retreats, training for certifications…

Remember to apply this law.

Launch emails, VSLs, landing pages, it all matters. Make it great.

The final 10% is the whole game. by @authorcmo

The exciting thing about the ig growth is it’s purely education - prioritizing the author’s unique POV and quality information.

Just formatted and packaged in a way that’s easiest to digest.

No trend chasing required.

We’re looping this in to a core service offering going forward.

More to come soon. by @authorcmo

Delighted to feature @dayschildkret for bringing the @morningaltars modality into the world.

Day combines nature, creativity and ritual into a practice used by thousands to heal, connect, create and tap into something larger than themselves.

It’s integrated into the work of grief counselors, therapists, nurses, educators, coaches, and nature lovers.

Each one recognizing the unique effects that nature, creativity and ritual can have on us.

This shot was taken from Day’s interview with United Palace on the Morning Altars practice.

One of the best parts of our work is supporting incredible thinkers as they take on bigger stages.

Huge congrats to @paulmvincent on his TEDx talk. Paul spoke to the nature of the self, achievement and meaning.

His talk draws from neuroscience, Buddhism, and his decades of experience coaching A-List actors and post exited founders, + his life as an endurance athlete and living with dozens of indigenous tribes.

Excited to see where these ideas reach next. by @authorcmo
