✨️POV: You're a romance author and going out gives you anxiety, but you convince a friend to go to the local indie romance bookstore with you and you have so much fun! 🫶

I've only been meaning to go for almost an entire YEAR now lol.

Welcome to @itsromancebookshop, the cutest indie romance bookstore on Oregon's South Coast!

It was my first time in a dedicated romance-only bookshop, and it was SO AMAZING to be surrounded by everything I'm immersed in online. My poor friend (and probably the bookshop owner, sorry 😅🤣) had to listen to me ramble on about all the books!

The shop is located upstairs in the historic Old City Hall ballroom which totally has some awesome art deco / old fashioned original architecture vibes, and I want to go back sometime at golden hour and take more pictures/video because I know the lighting is sure to be gorgeous on all those books! ✨️

Hello my chaos babes! Have you ever read anything that reminds you of my books or style of voice? I ask for two reasons:

1. I want to find more books and authors to love!

2. Marketingwise, I would love to find some good comps.

Tbh lol I think my books rarely comp well to existing other authors. I have always written to the beat of my own heart, and I have zero intention of stopping, but every time I try to find comps, I end up lost. So please comment if you can think of any!

Or if you like my books and want to suggest other books you like even if you have no clue if I'd like them, I'd also love to hear that! I would really just love to discover some great books to read.

Things I love:
✨️ rescue scenes
✨️ tension/pacing/excitement
✨️ stand-alones or interconnected standalones
✨️ kind FMCs (I have to zone into her, and I always try to be kind, so I can't handle reading snark because it makes me unhappy)
✨️ spice or not, any level from nothing to omgggg get the fire hose because this shiiii is in flames
✨️ (oops I forgot what I was gonna say here 🤣...hmm yeah no clue lol)
✨️ fun, banter, etc. I love to laugh!

I will read almost any genre of romance as long as I can get into the voice and character and as long as there is a female FMC so I can self-insert haha!

Triggers:
X horror/gore/etc are a no-go for me
X anything with a patronizing or paternalisticly dominant MMC, not hot for me. I can do dark but he has to be attuned to her needs, not condescending and overriding her personal agency

Anyway anyone got any ideas of books for me to read?

I genuinely want to find stuff I like. I just don't know if I'm incredibly picky (sure maybe lololol) or if my taste is just very specific, but I've been struggling majorly to find anything that isn't my own stories that I want to read. 😂

It's Kace's birthday today so I felt like I should promote Shadowglen. I've actually been incredibly burnt out of social media and marketing lately. I am not even trying with this caption lol. But I love this book. I have been stepping away from social and basically everything, working on refilling the well, reading (I read two romance books in the last week and I didn't write either of them!), and writing my stuff. I know I need to get book two out and the ARCs for it, the paperbacks or that and book one, but man you guys ever just crash out hard? I do. All the time. 🤣

Or at least, I hoped he was being paranoid.

“You’re probably right.” A glint lit his eyes, and in two steps, he stood at my side. “Then I probably don’t need to do this,” he said, gripping my jaw in one hand.
He pulled me close, one hand in the back of my hair as he kissed me hard.

So hard, it left me breathless.

“What was that for?” I asked as he pulled away.

“Just in case I can’t touch you again.”

I don't know how this translates to making books, to writing, to marketing my romance novels. But damn if it isn't just the way I am haha. I always do things in my own rather-chaotic, experimental way.

And I'm grateful to each and every one of you who are here for the ride. ✨️

Also a secret thanks to my neigubors for politely accepting all the loaves I've been giving them this summer as I've slowly got better. 🤣

I was talking to one of my neighbors recently and I said I think the way I've become good at anything is nobody telling me how much I absolutely sucked at first. Lol! 🤣🤣🤣 That same day, my husband told them how great I am at making sourdough.

I became slightly obsessed with living up to that.

I think I finally did it! This loaf is legit delicious!

Do you prefer your bookmarks to stick out the top and bottom of the book, or perhaps just the top? Is there a specific size you like? Material? Do you even like bookmarks at all?

I've been contemplating getting some bookmarks printed for Shadowglen and have been looking into options for printing with gold metallic foil to match my series branding!

(I'm considering doing a preorder campaign for the paperbacks, but I haven't decided yet, so I welcome your input, readers!)
