Bertie, Crosby and Floss are HUGE fans of this day!

After all, what would the world be without brilliant bats, crazy crocodiles, fabulous flamingos… and all the other weird and wonderful animals we share it with?

My three little characters might be a bit different from what you’d expect, but that’s exactly what makes them special.

Today is the perfect day to celebrate animals of every shape, size and kind – from the cute and cuddly to the scaly, slippery, wobbly and winged!

❤️ National Love People Day ❤️

Today is a lovely reminder that loving and accepting others isn't something children simply know how to do. These are skills we learn.

We learn to understand that people can see, think, feel, move, communicate and experience the world differently from us.

We learn empathy.

We learn to accept differences rather than fear or judge them.

We learn how to understand our own feelings and recognise the feelings of others.

We learn that everyone has their own strengths, skills and things that make them wonderfully them.

And perhaps most importantly, we learn that being different doesn't make us less.

This is at the heart of social and emotional learning: helping children learn some of the skills they need to understand themselves, build relationships, care about others and, ultimately, love people for who they are.❤️

These are some of the things that Bertie, Crosby, Floss and I hope children take away from my books.

Remember that book I was writing?

No, I don’t either. 😂

Life has got in the way a little lately. Instead of being on the computer until late writing, I’ve been on it until late working after hours, and I am EXHAUSTED. It’s a good job I love my job!

I’m hoping things settle down soon so I can get back to writing stories.

My next book hasn’t been forgotten… just temporarily shelved while the next chapter of my own life unfolds.

Back at it soon!

I'm hoping the next part of my story might include some sleep, exercise and fun too! 🤞🏻

You know what I did after this fall?

I got right back up, because that’s how we build resilience - facing challenges, getting back up and carrying on. 🔁

You know what happened when I got back up?

I was laughing so much, I fell AGAIN. This time, onto my knees… then straight into the lake. Fully submerged. 💦

Of course, I got back up. Again.

The bruises I have today are proof of my resilience… and my clumsiness.

Sometimes resilience looks brave and determined. Other times, it looks like you actually just haven’t got a clue what you’re doing. Either way - don't give up. ❤️
