🌼 the great outdoors • playlist 🌼If your Monday morning could use a strong dose of "this could totally be the soundtrack to a romcom movie!" vibes, look no further: I've got you! 👏 I originally posted this *before* the book came out, but there are so many new faces since then (hiiii, new friends!! Thanks so much for being here!), so I thought I'd post it again for anyone who might have missed it the first time!I absolutely loved making this playlist! I picked every single song very intentionally, and put them in juuuuuust the right order to follow the shape of the story. While they don't match one-for-one with every single chapter, I've put notes on these graphics so you can pair them with their corresponding thematic sections."But what are we supposed to *do* with a book playlist?" someone hilariously asked at my Houston book tour stop—which I thought was a great question! My answer was that they exist so the reader can have an even more immersive experience with the book while reading, and that you could listen while driving/cleaning/going on a walk/etc. Some people in the audience said they are able to listen *while reading*—my brain does not work that way, but I love that this is an experience other people can have! 😂If you're a regular book playlist person, I'd love to hear how *you* incorporate them! AHHHH I GOT TO WRITE AN ARTICLE FOR PEOPLE.COM AND YES I AM STUCK IN ALL CAPS (!!!!!!!!!!)I've written five published novels, but this miiiiiiiight be the coolest thing I've ever gotten the chance to write?! Bonus: I got to give shout-outs in @people to NINE different authors whose books feature determined leading ladies!I've been *so* excited for the Legally Blonde prequel, @elleonprime, ever since it was first announced—what a wild coincidence that my Elle Woods–coded wilderness romcom would release just *weeks* before we get to watch @leximinetree step into the heels of @reesewitherspoon in the origin story we've all been waiting for!Huge thank you to @people x @meganrudloff for the chance to write an *actual* article like this—anyone who's read THE REUNION or THE LODGE knows I've written a ton of fictional media pieces, and when writing this, I tapped into that voice again and it was so much fun. IT IS DISNEY CRUISE TIME AND I AM SO READY (!!!!!!!)After a FULL stretch of months getting ready for book launch / book tour, I'm so so so excited to just unplug for a week & read a ton & stare at the ocean & eat/drink a lot of delicious stuff & visit *three* beautiful beaches! 😍🌊🏝️📖The first thing I did when we got in our stateroom was *obviously* to set up my books/get a shelfie picture 😆 This is our first time on the Treasure, and these shelves aren't deep enough to turn my books fully sideways like they are on the Fantasy, so it's looking like a new Barnes & Noble up in here with them all face out 😆I'll be mostly off the grid for the next week, so forgive my lack of responses if you happen to message/tag me in anything 😆😅Have a great week, everyone, and I'll see ya real soon! °O°🚢 by @authorkaylaolson

It's finally VACATION TIME!! and as usual, I've brought way more books than I could possibly read in a week simply because I'm a total mood reader and I'm not sure which specific books will call to me on any given day 😆I'm super excited about all of these—we'll see how many I get through! 🏝️ Fortunately, half of them are loaded onto my kindle, so I'm only packing a *slightly* unusual number of physical books (including a couple copies of THE GREAT OUTDOORS so I can do a book drop or two on our ship!)!Off to the airport…see you tonight, Orlando! ✈️☁️ by @authorkaylaolson

Last night at @thenewromanticsbooks was *so* much fun!! What a beautiful store full of fun people—if I weren't going on a Disney Cruise today (with overpacked bags, of course 😅), I would have bought 10x more stuff!@authorilasikorski, you were such a fun moderator—I loved chatting with you about THE GREAT OUTDOORS and the writing process! I hope we get to do another event together sometime, and I'm so glad I snagged a signed copy of your book (would have bought them all if not for the aforementioned overstuffed luggage, lol)!@cyborgcinderella, thank you for texting me to say you wish I were doing a book event in Orlando—I'm so happy that turned into THIS!
