Updated book roster!! 😁
Alternative history deserves more recognition as a subgenre of fantasy and sci-fi! I love how authors of this genre reimagine the past with exciting twists.

Examples of alt history novels:
📚The Years of Rice and Salt (Kim Stanley Robinson): What if the Black Death wiped out most of Europe?
📚The Man in the High Castle (Philip K. Dick): What if Japan and Nazi Germany won WWII?

In my Enemy’s Keeper series, the last Vikings seize gunpowder to topple William the Conqueror. 🔥 Soon, Celts and Norman knights are fighting to control this “magical” explosive.

Historically, gunpowder was already widespread in China, and the Silk Road connected China to Norman-occupied Italy. The Normans enjoyed teas, spices, and dyes from the East—so why not gunpowder, too? History says it didn’t reach England for ~200 more years… but what if a rebel smuggled it in early?

In my books, that rebel is Tobias Boltan. His gunpowder plans go awry when he's rescued by a shy healer named Aliwyn. Now, he can't find the heart to get rid of her, even if she doesn't like his cargo...
After all, what harm can ONE woman do on board a ship packed with Vikings/mercenaries? 😉

The Enemy's Keeper series is packed with adventure, plot twists, complex characters, and slow-burn enemies-to-lovers #nospiceromance (and no swearing). Since the FMC is a healer, I sprinkled in medieval medicine throughout. I hope you give my books a try!

#TheThiefsKeeper (Prequel), #HealersBlade (Book 1), and #TraitorsHeart (Book 2) are now available!

Don't write when hungry 😂

What funny typos have you encountered?

Rogue's Rising (Enemy's Keeper Book 3) release date is pushed back from spring to summer 2027, but I feel so much more relaxed about having more time.

Happy release day to Discovering Destiny 🥳 @jan.foster.author

I am honored to have ARC read this book!

Here is my Goodreads review:
This was an ambitious, sweeping saga spanning several years (1567–1572) and multiple countries/fantastical kingdoms! The history nerd in me delighted in learning more about the three Queens, Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth I, and Catherine de Medici through the eyes of vampires, witches, fae and demons. I also enjoyed seeing the return of side characters from previous installments, like Beba, Becca, Fairfax, and Aioffe.

I do feel like the character arcs of Hope (FMC) and Henry Fitzroy (MMC) took a backseat in favor of detailing true history in this novel. For many scenes, the main characters are observing rather than making decisions, living the consequences, and therefore learning from their triumphs or mistakes. There were still enough surprises to keep me reading, however. I was also thoroughly invested in the fate of Naturae, whose mists are failing and whose vines are failing to produce more pupae (baby fae).

The last 20% was SPECTACULAR!!! I couldn't put my phone down!! Totally worth reaching the end!!
I recommend this whole series for fans of real history and alternative history!

Content: Rather bloody toward the end because real history was bloody at this time. Recommended for upper YA as the lower age limit.

I received a huge 1lb envelope in the mail recently and was VERY CONFUSED when medals dropped out upon opening 😂

Turns out I should NOT auto-ignore any email that begins with "Congratulations! You've won..." This time, I did win something, and it's Silver for the Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY)!

The IPPY awards are considered one of the top tier indie publishing book awards, and I am absolutely honored to be a recipient this year, along with my very talented narrators, Michael Hajiantonis and Kiera Rhodes!

The Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPYs) honor the year's most outstanding independently published titles, drawing thousands of entries from around the world.

Established in 1996, the IPPY Awards were created to give greater recognition to independent, university, and self-published books. Entries are judged by a panel of experts, including librarians, booksellers, reviewers, and designers, who evaluate submissions based on quality of content, originality, and design. Awards highlight books that push creative boundaries and contribute meaningfully to literature and culture.

Please help me celebrate by sharing this post, then comment "Done"!

I'll send one lucky winner an Enemy's Keeper chibi tea towel! Ships to USA and Canada.

Reposting, sharing to stories, sharing my channel directly from YouTube, all count. I will DM the winner on Sept 17 😃 by @authorkyriew

I finally created a collector's edition of my debut, #HealersBlade (Enemy's Keeper Book 1), with a foiled cover, custom endpapers, and colored illustrations!! 😀

What I didn't show you was the failed first batch where I designed my sprayed edges with the wrong dimensions, and it printed with bleed showing. UGH. So I ditched sprayed edges 😆

Meet me at Fables and Flames Romantasy Gala this November 6-8 for your signed collector's edition! Preorder form in my Linktree. by @authorkyriew
