Hi everyone hope you are all keeping well.I am in hospital at the moment and about to be transferred to cardiology for further tests/investigations and possible surgery, pacemaker implanted.Worst case scenario I could be here a few days or weeks even.Sadly Cardiology has no available beds, so waiting and waiting in a very hot and noisy teemporary ward.So I may not post much or reply to comments or inboxes.I will keep you posted, all is okay and glad they are looking after me so well. Many thanksBrian ❤️🙏 by @autism_support_community

I do hope everyone is managing to stay cool in this current heatwave across Europe and the UK?Normally I love hot weather, but the nightimes are terrible, and often no sleep.I thought I was being careful, but still managedto get severely dehydrated and ended up with heat exhaustion and almost heatstroke.I'm well on the mend now, but only after taking urgent action.I had a bad crash on my bike last week and actually passed out while riding. I was lucky to fall into bushes and not traffic. It really shook me up actually, aclose call.It took me a few days to recover and have been confined to my bed.The problem was not the day time at all, it was night time and my bedroom was hovering around 31°C all night and causing my heat exhaustion and dehydration. The other problem is being over 65 and not being able to regulate my temperature or recover so quickly. Then for some of us there is the added danger of how certain medications can exacerbate dehydration and heatstroke.I believe the impacts of heatwaves on neurodivergent people can be worse.Take care out there, and if in doubt contact your GP for professional advice. Here are some shots of my garden to keep you cool, im enjoying my garden this year as it is a fresher place to be.Brian ❤️🙏 by @autism_support_community

Good morning everyone and hope you are keeping well?I am back from holiday and still not posting much.I went down with heatstroke and am taking time to recover, but on the mend.I just wanted to share these photos/videos of an amazing boat trip to see the sunrise, on Lake Koycegiz, Turkey. It was a magical experience, surrounde by silence, reflections, nature, fresh pure air and a vast lake.Every year and for the past 21 years I have done the same boat trip, it reminds me of the important things in life.A cathartic experience that can help the healing process of trauma, and feelings of burnout. These experiences allow me to gather my thoughts, to nurture greater creativity and battle on in this very strange world we live in.For those in the current heatwave, stay cool, hydrated and be aware of how the heat can impact on medications.Thank you Brian ❤️🙏🇹🇷🌏 by @autism_support_community

One of the greatest gifts I can give myself is time with my horse in nature. When I’m riding through the forest, I naturally slow down. I notice the birds singing overhead, bees moving from flower to flower, butterflies drifting on the breeze, and the quiet activity of life across the forest floor. These moments invite me to be fully present in a way that nothing else can.For me, this is where my energy is restored. Before another week of supporting my human clients, I need time to replenish my own nervous system. As someone who is AuDHD, the demands of holding space for others can be deeply rewarding, but they also require intentional recovery.Nature and horses create the perfect environment for that restoration. Research continues to show that spending time in natural environments can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and improve emotional well being. Horses add another layer to this experience. Their sensitivity encourages us to become present, grounded, and authentic, reminding us to connect with the world through awareness rather than urgency. These quiet moments aren’t an escape, they’re an essential part of how I care for myself so I can continue caring for others. Every ride leaves me feeling calmer, more connected, and with enough energy to step into the week with an open heart.#horseriding #petcare #naturevibes by @autism_support_community

Good morning all and wish everyone a wonderful week ahead.I forgot to celebrate that my Facebook page is now 13 years old and still standing. It was first created on 27th June 2013 and the best thing I ever did. My Facebook and instagram pages are very quiet these days, a combination of posting less and being crushed by the dreaded algorithms. There is little I can do about that, so I have accepted this and moved on.However this page/post is not about numbers, it is to thank you all for your kindness, for following my FB page and indeed this page, and for all of your wonderful contributions.Together we have built a small community, and one that thrives on kindness and dedication to try to helpothers in the community through support, sharing posts and public speaking.Thank you so much for all the support you give this page and I hope to battle on, despite all the hurdles social media platforms put in my way.Brian ❤️🙏 by @autism_support_community

Every summer, you’ll find me on a softball field. 🥎People are often surprised to hear that someone who struggles with crowded, unpredictable social environments would look forward to joining a team every year. The truth is, being AuDHD means my brain is constantly processing more than most people realize. Between sensory input, trying to interpret social cues, masking, and making sure I’m responding “the right way,” public settings can become exhausting. Sometimes I don’t respond at all. Sometimes I answer in ways that don’t quite fit the moment because I missed the cue. It’s not a lack of caring it’s simply how my brain processes the world. But softball is different. The game is built on routine, structure, movement, and community. I know where I’m supposed to be. I know the rules. My body knows what to do. It’s one of the places where I feel capable instead of confused.Over the years, I’ve learned that regulating my nervous system isn’t always about eliminating challenges, it’s about collecting glimmers. Those small moments that remind me why I keep showing up, even on the hard days. One of my biggest glimmers is Daphne. 🐈She comes with me to games in her backpack tent, where she quietly watches, cheers us on in her own way, and reminds me that I never have to navigate the world completely alone. Having her nearby helps me stay grounded, process everything around me, and simply exist without feeling like I have to constantly perform. This is one of the many reasons I believe the human-animal bond is so powerful. Animals don’t ask us to mask. They don’t expect perfect eye contact, flawless conversation, or socially “correct” responses. They simply meet us where we are.If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the world, I hope this reminds you that your glimmers matter. Whether they’re found in a sport, a hobby, a pet, or a quiet moment, they can become anchors that help your nervous system find its way back to safety.I’d love to know: What’s one glimmer that’s helped you through difficult seasons?
