2026 is my 7th year in automotive content.

It's the first with far more work on the data/strategy side than creative side. I don't mind the change, but sometimes I miss the 'wow' numbers of the old days. For a little ego boost, I looked up my top videos for each of the previous six years.

I spent today researching WRC history, so it feels right to share this pic I took at Velocity Invitational at Sonoma Raceway, 2023.

800hp Ford Fiesta built for the 2009 Pikes Peak Hillclimb. Marcus Grönholm ran in the unlimited class and took 2nd place (apparently there were engine and turbo issues, possibly due to elevation), but managed to win ‘Rookie of the Year.’

That’s right, the WRC champion from 2000 and 2002, was a ‘rookie’ at Pikes Peak in 2009. It’s never too late to try something new. You might even be pretty good at it. by @auto.tea

Another from SEMA 2023.

The Huracán Sterrato and 911 Dakar debuted as 2023 models. A Mustang Raptor was supposedly on the horizon. And Nissan showed us this Safari Rally Z concept, an homage to the Datsun 240z that won the 1971 African Safari Rally.

Off-road sports cars were so hot in 2023. The trend quickly fizzled, and now it all seems a bit silly. I still like this one, though. by @auto.tea
