Our tour is coming to an end—at least until the big event on August 22. And there’s no better place for our final tour stop than Road America, alongside everyone at Siebkens Resort (@siebkensresort). All the creators behind Off The Map will be joining us for this one: Autoarts (@autoarts.co), Motive Archive (@motive_archive), Lowend Garage (@lowendgaragechicago), and Odometer Publishing (@odometer.pub).

Saturday, if you’re at the WeatherTech Vintage Weekend with Brian Redman, stop by Siebkens’ Stop-Inn Tavern and say hello. We’ll be signing copies of Off The Map. There will also be a special appearance by the Motive Archive Keen Safari, along with its featured Check26 poster by JC Rivera.

To mark the occasion, Autoarts designed a limited-edition tee featuring a 1952 photo by Phil Nesius of a Porsche America Roadster (540) during the circuit’s final years on public roads.

All Summer Vintage images are by Off The Map co-author and photographer Michael Bene (@lets.drive.312). Michael holds the distinction of being the only photographer to have shot every Checkeditout.

Late last year i joined @checkeditout.io Pres. @adammkern for four days of sightseeing across Utah. Psyche! It was full throttle desert hijinks, clinging to alpine roads and marveling at the “pinch-me” beauty which i caught only glimpses of through the dust Adam’s 996 rally car produced. In a word? Epic. The Autoarts Safari Party dispatch is incoming. Until then please enjoy this pair of dirt bike riders.

Off The Map took its first East Coast trip this week, previewed at our annual team Aa holiday gathering. Fall has brought a flurry of activity behind Off The Map, the forthcoming book from Checkeditout Chicago. Proofs, book cover samples, and slipcases (that’s slipcases, plural—including an as-yet-unannounced special-edition version) have all been approved. And at this very moment, wet ink is being pressed to paper—424 pages in all—before being expertly bound and packaged. Delivery to Chicago will be announced as soon as we get word that our cargo has cleared customs. We are only weeks away! The result is something truly special, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Pre-order customers are at the front of the line for delivery.

A few special in-person book sales are being planned—watch this space for future announcements.

About Off The Map:

The roads are straight as a ruler, the horizon is pancake-flat, and the winters are bleached white with salt, snow, or both. In the world of car culture, Chicago is off the map. Sure. Let them think that.

What began as a half-serious Instagram conversation evolved into one of the premier Porsche events in the world. The idea was as simple as it was brash: assemble the coolest Porsches we could find on the streets of Chicago for an unforgettable car party. Somehow, it worked. From the jump, Checkeditout struck the perfect balance of Zuffenhausen style and Chicago soul. Holding that balance takes more than thinking outside the box—it takes living Off The Map.

This book is both a manual and a monument to doing things your own way and finding community en route. It’s the story of Checkeditout so far, with words, photography, sketches, and handwritten notes from the people who were there to chart the course.

Last week, we revealed the title of the Checkeditout book at a preview party inside Breitling’s Michigan Avenue boutique. Party-goers got a sneak peek at “Off The Map” in the layout stage, tried on watches (including CIO fav the Martini Racing Top Time, one of four in the country), and raised $3,700 for @englewoodcrushers through ticket sales. Huge thanks to @breitlingchicago for hosting.
