Ok so not a Sahara background and more a Golf course…but you get the idea.
Been driving the YJ for the past few weeks and enjoying it. It’s really a misunderstood Jeep and I’m glad to see it’s coming into its own now as a classic.
The CJ7 is an amazingly good and functional Jeep, but it’s trapped in a good way as a piece of agricultural thought process, or as a functional simplicity Jeep. Gets the job done with no fuss or creature comforts really (unless you add them in) I love mine for that reason.
The YJ and especially the top trim Sahara tried really hard to make it a comfortable lifestyle approach, improving on the bones of the CJ7.
It rides better, ergonomic are better, seats recline, dash is upgraded, AC standard to name a few.
I know this because in one day I can start with the CJ in the morning, then the YJ in the afternoon and in the evening in the TJ. The advancements of the line up can be seen and felt.

Well yesterday was the day that this beautiful family got their family heirloom back home.
Was an honor to help my friend @johncaryjr get his father in laws life long passion ready for another 70 years of family ownership with Joe @zeppes_customs and Nick @noyesenterprises .

This BelAir was purchased by John’s wife’s father when he was 15 and has been in the family since. It was moved all over the country from CA to Colorado and New Mexico. No matter what the car was loved and cherished.

Like many cars kept that long some years were more kind then others when life steps in, and for some years it spent time outside in NM that baked the paint. But because of that it oxidized and saved the layers underneath.
When John asked me to help him with the car we made a plan that it was to be the family car and to be passed down to his girls one day, so we made it something they could enjoy while young and something safe for modern roads and reliability.

So happy to see them all pile in and enjoy this beautiful machine. Nothing but smiles yesterday all around.

If you look real close you can see Courtney’s mom in the background smiling seeing the car looking like her first date with her husband to be at 15 years old. Heartwarming. ❤️🙏🏻 by @autolgnd

Ok I hear a ton of shit about California and yes some is really deserving.
Today though…it’s 80, sunny, clear and just stunningly beautiful California.
Top down and half doors just rolling through Skyline ridge near my home enjoying just a drive for the hell of it (yes gas is still over $6.00) but who gives a fuck on a day like today ❤️

Some people are so deserving of some good things happening to them.
Meet my buddy Keith who’s such a good dude and spends so much of his time helping other, including me.
His dad bought this truck in the 90’s as a project for him and Keith. It’s a solid 1956 F100.
Unfortunately his dad past away bunch of years ago and the paint on the truck had oxidized pretty bad and Keith thought it could not be brought back to life.
I convinced him to let me have at it and him and I stripped it then wet sanded it to 3000 then brought it back using @griotsgarage products, compound, polish and a final Ceramic Coat.
Came out great and I think better then new when Keith’s dad brought it home.
Stoked to know Keith is happy and it will attend its first car show this weekend and he can smile knowing it’s perfect again!

Happy Birthday Yellow Cherokee….my father ordered this Jeep spec September 10th and it was delivered in Feb one month before I was born….I’ve now had a Jeep in my family for my entire life with the exception on 2 years when I moved to SF.
This jeep is the one that started it all for me…my “Herbie the Love Bug” if you will. My first automotive obsession.
My dad bought this Jeep to replace a Mercedes that my mom had before I was born, something bigger safer and unique.
It’s an extremely rare Jeep Cherokee 4 door, they made very few to begin with. This one though is extra special…it’s a black top 4 door. Very very few were made in black. Why you might ask well because AC was not a thing then in Jeeps and very expensive to have, the black roof was obviously very hot. They moved to white and body color pretty quick.
When my dad sold this jeep when my parents divorced in the early 80’s I was heartbroken. I never forgot that feeling and when I became a young adult I started to look for it….shes now with me in SF and living its best life.

Did you know that the largest China Town is in SanFrancisco? Yep…considered the largest in the country and one of the most vibrant.
When I first moved to SF I lived in North Beach (Italian section) and would walk through China Town daily, grab some pork and custard buns on the way to work. Was a magical place and a great way to absorb SF from NYC.
