When I gave birth to my daughter, there were 2 people I wanted in the room with me: my husband, and you. The first reason is because there simply is no better hype woman. And of course, I wanted you to be one of the first people to see her, but most important of all: I wanted you to be one of the first people she saw. Whose arms she felt wrap around her. Whose love she felt without delay. These were the first precious moments of her life; her introduction into this world, and yours was the spirit I needed greeting her. To usher her into this life with joy and passion and laughter and fire and ambition and unmatched zeal. The example I hope she follows with her first unsteady steps. I wanted you in that room because I wanted my daughter to know, from the very beginning, how rich and beautiful this life can be, and there’s no one who sets that tone better than her auntie. I suppose, in short, it comes down to this: your vibes are truly immaculate. I love you with all of my soul. Edie is so lucky. So am I. 💕 Happy (belated) birthday, my girl by @autumnchiklis

Growing up, I fiercely believed in magic. I wished on shooting stars. I picked up pennies and threw them in fountains. I’d clutch my blanket up to my neck each Christmas Eve, certain that Santa was coming; that he’d be here just after midnight…So it only feels fitting that on Christmas morning - just after midnight - Dor and I experienced real magic. At 12:12 AM, I realized that I was in labor. 2 days later - Saturday December 27 at 6:50 PM - we welcomed our baby girl into the world. Eden Iris Chiklis Gvirtsman 💛7 lbs, 13 oz. 21 inches. Lots of hair. She is our heaven on earth.There’s a moment - just before they’re put in your arms - where they reach for you. No one tells you that. But it’s true.Happy New Year 💕 by @autumnchiklis

9 months of growing you. Of feeling you transform my heart and body and world. People keep telling me to write you letters…To document this precious, fleeting time. It’s been like trying to capture light through smoke; like grasping at fairy dust - too ephemeral to pin down onto a page. But as I feel you (now constantly) roll and kick and take up space - as close to and as mysterious to me as you’ll ever be - I’ll start with this: The day we found out I was pregnant, we saw a double rainbow that was so vivid, we abandoned all logic and decided it was just for us. A wink to our little family, taking a bright new shape. At the time, I thought I knew every color in that rainbow. I’d been looking at them my entire life. Surely, I’d seen them all by now…As it turns out, there are more colors. So many, many more. I love you, little girl. I hope you get daddy’s cheekbones.💕@karenrayphotography, talk about capturing fairy dust. Thank you for once again outdoing yourself. Picking which of these to post has been the hardest part of this pregnancy. by @autumnchiklis
