Well baseball season has come to an end for Vinny. This year tested him in ways he has never known and through every trial and doubt came extra grit and the courage to keep going. Baseball is such a hard game, my dad calls it a thinking man’s sport, not only the technical ways of batting and fielding but also mentally, being part of a team but having the spotlight on you anytime a ball comes your way or you step into the batters box. There is no dishing it off to a teammate if you don’t know what to do or your confidence waivers, it’s on you. You can either have a team that makes that feel like more pressure or a team that picks you up when you strike out; that cheers you on insanely loud from the dugout and rally’s around you. Im so grateful Vinny is surrounded with those kind of teammates and that spirit is what brought them as far as it did this season. The Garibaldi dirt dogs clawed their way from a 5th seed all the way to game 3 of the championship series. Everyone doubted them, but these boys, this family, dug in deep and left it all out on the field; game 3 didn’t go their way but they have so much to be proud of. Proud of my Vinny boy ❤️🖤❤️ also need to give a shout out to @brittanyraekilduff for her talented photography this season, these are precious memories that I’m so grateful to have. by @autumndevito

Ok need to brag about my husband… last year John had an idea to start a baseball team for kids with physical and/or developmental needs here in Plymouth. As parents of a kid with different needs we know that there isn’t a lot of opportunities out there and all we want is for our kid to have the chance to try something new, if we felt like this we know other parents do too! He brought it to the PYBS board who wholeheartedly supported him and told him to run with it. He proceeded to raise a substantial amount of money and build a FREE program out of nothing. He put so much time, effort and love into this, on top of a full time job, coaching 3 baseball teams and a mountain of other responsibilities and it paid off; we could see it in the happy tears from parents, the excitement of a kid rounding the bases, in the way the peers volunteering embraced these kids as their new friends. We just wrapped up our last session on Friday and my heart is so full. John embraced every chaotic moment, met each kid where they were at, and made sure they had a good experience. I’m just so proud of him and love him so much. Also need to make a shout out to my sister @amandarose819 this girl is GOOD at her job, she was instrumental in making sure the parents and kids felt comfortable and prepared before each practice, and gave John amazing ideas for accommodation and how to help it all run smoothly. by @autumndevito

Johnny and I spent our anniversary at Fenway with a front row seat to see Tolle pitch and the Sox finally win, it was perfection. I wouldn’t want to do this crazy life with anyone else ❤️. And of course it wouldn’t be a celebration without Tom and Amelia randomly being at the same game, the Portuguese pride must have drawn us together 🤣 #portugueseheritagenight #lucky13 by @autumndevito

One year ago, I had the pleasure of being on the HALLOGREEN set - what a fun time that was! Thanks to Zayan, the director of the film, for including me in the project to help bring Grandma to life.

The story focuses on a grandma and her family upcycling and recycling clothing to create Halloween costumes from junk, ultimately delivering a fun, inspiring message on climate justice and sustainability. It was funded by a grant from Elfenworks.

What a treat to work with Dominic DeVito, Julia Little, and Taylor Pezza! And, to work with Maja again, too!

The film was recently screened at the Beaver Falls Film Festival this year and was a finalist.

*10* whole years of Dominic!! Dominic is love incarnate. He is the sweetest, kindest, silliest, most passionate person I know. I’m so lucky to be his mom, he’s taught me more than I could even teach him and is a blessing to everyone in his life. My Johnny Boy. Johnny is autistic and while sometimes I cringe at describing him by his disability I have also come to realize as he gets older that it is in fact a large part of who he is. What he also is, is funny, so lovable, he’s brave and he is truly my best friend, my comfort human- one snuggle makes everything better. He gives zero f*cks what anyone thinks, he will tell you to stop talking if you are boring him, he will ignore you and pretend he can’t hear if he doesn’t want to do what you ask, he marches to his own beat, is on his own time and you can get on his level or get out. I’ve always said Johnny knows what he brings to the world, he’s just waiting to everyone else to catch on and catch up. He’s taught me a lot about the world we live in, about myself and made me a better and more patient human. Every person with autism is different, and that in itself makes it important for people to learn about it- Because Johnny is “high functioning” or “doesn’t look autistic” the things he struggles with or we as his parents struggle with are often minimized and that’s been hard but nothing compares to the whole community of forgotten adults and children who live with profound autism; children who will never tell their parents they love them, some who are violent toward others and themselves, people who will never ever live independently on any level, caregivers who’s hearts are broken, that are tired, scared, financially struggling, uncertain of what their childs future looks like, and a system and world that doesn’t know how to or isn’t willing to help- these are the individuals we need to be sure we hold space for on World Autism Day. #worldautismawarenessday #autism by @autumndevito

I was lucky enough to coach the 5th grade boys travel team this year. This is the first travel team I’ve coached and while we didn’t have the season we hoped for, there’s a lesson in the losses and boy did we learn a lot together. This is honestly one of the more mentally challenging ways I have spent my time, I had to learn how to tune out the self doubt, the imposter syndrome, feeling like a girl in a boys world and being judged harder because of it (this isn’t drama it’s a fact). I think I thought hanging out with 3 boys is a lot, try 11 pre-teen boys with lots of energy, passion, heart, jokes, eye-rolls, and very different personalities and ways a learning. But each of these things has made me better, these boys are not only talented athletes, but amazing kids and I smile when I think of this bunch of goofballs; I was forced to trust myself, my decisions and remember what I’m capable of, something motherhood can make you forget. I may have a few more gray hairs but my heart is full and I’m grateful for this basketball season and being able to be involved with a sport I will forever love with some pretty great kids. 🏀💙 HUGE shout out to Vinny for not only trusting me to coach his team but embracing it and sometimes making me feel like I’m still cool. He plays basketball like he lives life, lots of passion and heart, not afraid to get his hands dirty and handle business, I’d say he’s a chip off the old block and I couldn’t be prouder of how much he has grown and how hard he works at everything he does. Johnny met Toothless, the dragon. He’s acted out this moment for so long, the scene where Toothless and Hiccup meet so when he found out we were going to meet him for real he was SO excited. I don’t think I ever expected Johnny to get so overwhelmed with love and emotion after laying his hand on Toothless’s nose he burst into tears, because he was meeting something that means so much to him. So naturally mom and the Viking started crying too. I was telling Hiccup a little about Johnny so he would understand why Johnny wasn’t answering his questions and for those that don’t know, Hiccup who doesn’t have a leg is a great representation of a character learning to take pride in who they are even though they may be different. He looked at Johnny and said what makes us different is what makes us special 😭 This was one of the most touching moments of our trip, I have way more to post but wanted to start with this ❤️ 🐉 taken in Universal Studios: Epic Universe by @autumndevito
