This blessed life!!! How grateful I am and so full of love and laughter in my heart for our Autumnal Equinox gathering. Friends and soul-filling nourishment! ❤️
We made clay pots from the river clay, which we spoke our hearts intentions into. The clay also got joyfully slathered all over the children’s bodies along with wood dust before they cold plunged before getting into the river side wood-fired hot tub.
We sailed, made and ate pie and soup, listened to the high-pitched hum of the power wheels as they ripped around camp, stuffed the toyota with friends, both up front and in the bed (with the tailgate down of course) two kids sitting shot gun sharing one seat belt as we toured up the forest service road to the spot for chanterelles. We ate, we laughed, sang some, sunned on the beach, drank chai and coffee and star gazed from the hot tub once the children fell asleep.

Oh hi :) It’s me. Lil ol me from Brier, WA. I girl who’s family moved here in the 1800’s, a girl who misses living at her childhood home with her parents and siblings, a girl who fucking loves nature and feels insane thinking of ways to save it. A woman who loves mothering, loving, holding hands, ripe blackberries, cooking, serving people, playing jokes, dancing, soaking in hot springs, coffee, staring at dappled light through the leaves of trees, swimming naked, creating, dreaming, loving. Yes I’m going to say loving twice because there is nothing better. A woman who’s just so much in love with every aspect of life - the deep grief and the deep joy and pleasures.

Some of you already know that FJ hasn’t been financially healthy for a few years now. My business partnership hasn’t been great either (even though we are both wonderful humans - it happens!) and from that, a certain flavor of atrophy resulted. And with this awful economy and the most expensive city, we’ll, it’s just been really challenging since 2023. I needed to make a deep change. So a couple of years ago I made a very hard decision, and asked to end my business partnership of now 10 years. It’s been a long and slow unwinding, but we’re getting there ❤️

I’ve been running the company solo since May, and it’s been revitalizing. I feel more connected to my body, heart, soul and creativity. And for the first time in 3 years, our summer sales have been up from previous year!

I’m entering into a fundraising phase to MOVE ONWARD and am looking for the right investors who share my ethos and passion for slow food. If you know of anyone, or of creative fundraising avenues, please do let me know! I’m so open ~ more in comments! by @autumnlexilee

I woke up this morning to the most beautiful orange glowing light being cast across my kitchen counter. I almost wept at the beauty of it all. And the irony of that gorgeous soft orange glow (yes, there was irony) is the burning of homes and forest east from me across the mountains in Spokane, creating the smoke that gave filter to the rising sun. Life is wild like that.
But still, there was beauty.

The practice of moving slow enough to pick up on all of the subtle nuances that expose beauty is one that comes quite naturally to me, as I have always been one to live in the tiny cracks and crevices most step over - for better or for worse. But I believe the Yin nature of the subtle is a place we’d be better off spending more of our time, especially us mothers and women business owners, for we need the soft nurturing nature of the embrace the in between.

Cedar, inside and out - a natural beauty.

Because I’ve sided moonwave in cedar inside and out, the use of paint was minimal - just on the cabinets in the apartment, in an effort to reduce use of synthetic materials. I built this apartment specifically for chemically sensitive people and those who want to be surrounded by natural materials. But in this process I have learned that cedar inherently has a high VOC count, coming from the properties that give it its natural anti-fungal properties and so much more goodness. But this is something to be aware of if you are highly sensitive to VOC’s - the smell of the cedar inside may be too much for you.

Always my favorite place in a home - where nurturing, nourishing, gathering and conversations abound.

I designed moonwaves kitchen to be soft and inspiring, to evoke feelings of being in nature, surrounded by materials of the earth.

The cabinet boxes were destined for the dump from a friends neighbors house, but were perfectly well-made and undamaged maple with outdated fronts. I rented a uhaul and saved them, and @nolson86 made new fronts for them which @jayneish and I painted. It’s in my dna to hold onto things and give them new life, and feels wildly important to reuse materials right now. All the newness is killing us. And it’s not like reusing needs to be the perspective of an entire build, but aspects of it can make a positive impact on reducing waste and the need to produce more. I feel the same way about my company @frankieandjos - no one has to choose a 100% vegan diet, but why not choose reducing dependence on animals for one aspect of a meal or celebration through vegan ice cream? Food for thought. Anyways, yay for delicious kitchens ❤️ by @autumnlexilee

Solstice Rain

I woke this morning to the sound of my cat
licking herself spotless
the kind of self care we all dream of.
I could not see her from my heads
place on the pillow, sunk so sweetly.
As my eyes adjusted even more,
my senses alivening to the day,
Ah!
I understand it’s not her at all,
it’s raining.
Solstice drops dripping outside
my wide open window,
from leaf to leaf, eve to ledge,
ledge to balde of grass.
The chilled breeze making its way
to my nose,
sparking a deep joy
in the center of my body.
I watch the leaves of the unknown
volunteer tree growing with abandon
outside my window,
the saturation only possible as gift
from the great mother.
Eventually, I make my way outside,
sprinkles of the clouds laughter
leaving a layer of sparkling magic
on my wool sweater,
creating yet another story to the smell
of the unwashed scent
that is me - a collaboration with this earth
and the blessed vessle that is my body.
The raspberries are pure magic right now,
each cluster of magenta
drenched in rain water,
bursts of sweet and wet in my mouth
feeding my wonder, microbiome and soul.
My dewy hands
peel through the strawberry plants next,
jewels of ruby drooping so close
to the ground, I’m surprised the
slugs have not found them yet.
But today I win.
On this longest day of the year,
I am here,
and able
to feel it all.

a trip for the books! we flew to San Diego, rented an RV, went to Legoland!, stayed at a couple RV parks, met up with papa who was driving his #yeahbud van back from Baja, went to Joshua Tree (where my heart feels at peace) then back to SD for the finish where the sun was hot and Talon told me “mama, I want our new house to be here, in San Diego”. Me: “ohhh, okay Tal! Tell me what you love about San Diego!?” Talon: “it has palm trees, lots of palm trees”. My little sun baby ☀️ ☺️❤️ by @autumnlexilee
