@austincollege, thank you for being such an unexpected blessing in my life.

I have truly dreamed of college my entire life, as a first gen student. I’ve loved learning & school for my entire life. Everyone that’s ever known me knew all I wanted was to go to college. So, when I picked the wrong college, changed schools 3 days before classes started, had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, & my college experience turned out looking nothing like what I thought it would, I genuinely felt like I had failed. I never thought the random little school 35 minutes from my house was going to change my life as much as it did.

I’m so thankful for finding Zeta at that very last table during the opportunities fair freshmen year. Beyond thankful for that random email about cheer tryouts & for @austincollegecheer believing in me. Thankful for the friends that pushed me to interview for the best student job on campus. Thankful for the older girls in Zeta that let me be a part of their senior year by taking their graduation photos & encouraged me to keep doing it. Thankful for the professors that encouraged me, both as a student & simply as a person. Thankful for learning being a (somewhat) calm constant amongst all the busyness happening outside the classroom. I’m so thankful for every person God put in my path to get me to Austin College & to get me to all of these places where I was meant to be in the last four years. I’m so thankful for everyone who gently pushed me where they knew I needed to go along the way, even when I didn’t quite believe in myself.

I would not be the person I am today without Austin College & all of the unexpected, beautiful opportunities over the last 4 years. I truly can say, now looking back on it all, that I would not change a single part of it. I know I was exactly where God wanted me to be in order to make me into who I am today, even if it didn’t feel like it in the beginning. Every bit of my time here at Austin College reminded me that I am never in control as much as I like to think I am, and I am so, so thankful for that. And, this time, I think I would choose Austin College a million times over if I could.🤍 taken in Austin College by @autumnxvance

this team has healed me & has grown me in ways I’ll probably never be able to put into words. I’ve spent a week now trying to explain it, but I just don’t think I’ll ever be able to fully encompass the love I felt with and from this team. Every moment with this team during this year reminded me why I’ve spent my entire life doing it.
