Ava Bahari on hinnatud Rootsi viiuldaja, keda The Guardian on nimetanud „haaravaks lugude jutustajaks“. Ta on pälvinud tunnustust rahvusvahelistel konkurssidel, sealhulgas Paganini ja Tibor Varga viiuldajate konkursid, ning valitud Euroopa juhtivate kontserdisaalide organisatsiooni poolt hooaja 2026/27 ECHO Rising Star’i artistiks. 💫

Tallinna Kammerorkestriga esitab ta James MacMillani Viiulikontserdi nr 2, mille ettekannet juhatab helilooja ise.

La musique de Bach est une véritable fontaine de jouvence: près de trois siècles après sa mort, elle continue d’inspirer. The story of Antti Auvinen’s new violin concerto ”Diesel Engel Rodeo Radio” began in a taxi in Johannesburg, where the driver told the composer about the life of one of his relatives. This relative had owned an illegal gold mine, which ended up in the hands of hijackers. ”The guardian angel must have run out of gas,” the driver remarked.

This kind of worn-out, past-its-prime ”Diesel Engel” sparked Auvinen’s imagination. He combined it with another image that fascinated him—the American rodeo. Out of this mixture came a fast-paced work that also contains sensitivity and empathy.

Taking on the role of soloist was the Swedish violinist Ava Bahari, who never shies away from a challenge and wasn’t even fazed by having to learn the ”chopping” playing technique derived from bluegrass music.

Antti Auvisen uuden viulukonserton tarina alkoi johannesburgilaisessa taksissa, jossa kuljettaja kertoi säveltäjälle erään sukulaisensa elämästä. Tällä oli ollut laiton kultakaivos, joka päätyi kaappaajien käsiin. ”Suojelusenkeliltä loppui varmaan bensa”, oli kuski todennut.

Tällainen, parhaat päivänsä nähnyt Diesel Engel herätti Auvisen mielikuvituksen. Hän yhdisti sen toiseen itseään kiehtoneeseen mielikuvaan, amerikkalaiseen rodeoon. Keitoksesta syntyi vauhdikas teos, jossa kuuluu myös herkkyys ja empatia. Solistiksi hyppäsi haasteita pelkäämätön ruotsalaisviulisti Ava Bahari, joka ei hätkähtänyt edes blue grass -musiikista juontuvan chopping-soittotekniikan opettelua.

Discovering and bringing to light music that has been forgotten over the years is one of the greatest privileges of my work. I am therefore full of joy and gratitude for last week’s concerts with the fantastic Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the amazing Kristian Sallinen, where we performed Grazyna Bacewicz’s Violin Concerto No.4. The audience’s warm and enthusiastic reception of the piece was deeply touching- tusen tack Stockholm! taken in Konserthuset Stockholm by @ava_printemps

Merci Durand ! Quite a surreal feeling to finally see this in print!
As far as side hustles go, this has been the best experience, bar none (or rather bar 347 none 🤓🎻)
Of course most- if not all- credit goes to the brilliant Camille Zimmermann who did all the research and work for this new edition. Huge thank you for including me and listening to my humble violinistic remarks and making them make sense!
Much looking forward to premiering the new material tonight in Tampere with the wonderful Tampere Filharmonia and the great Pietari Inkinen and next week with the fantastic Bar Avni and my long-standing orchestra crush Orchestre de Paris! ❤️ by @ava_printemps
