Alaska in the fall 🍂🧡 One of my favorite times of year to explore because the colors are INSANE, but the season is short!

If you’re planning an Alaska fall adventure, here are a few things you need to know:

🍁 Go at the right time. Fall colors can change quickly depending on the area and weather. Late August through September is usually a good time to start looking, but peak color varies each year.

🥾 Research your hikes ahead of time. Alaska has SO many beautiful trails for fall colors, from mountain views to golden tundra. Check AllTrails and hiking groups for recent conditions and current color updates.

🌤️ Check the weather before you go. Alaska weather can change fast, especially in the mountains. I like checking multiple weather apps before heading out and always bring extra layers!

🍂 Don’t wait too long! Once the leaves and tundra start changing, they can go from colorful to bare pretty quickly, especially after wind, rain, or snow.

🥾 Be prepared for the trail conditions. Mud, wet leaves, snow, and slippery sections are all possible this time of year, so good traction shoes and extra layers are a must.

♻️ Leave no trace. Stay on the trail, pack out what you bring in, and help keep Alaska beautiful for everyone!

Fall in Alaska is short, but it’s SO worth it 🤎🍂
