i don’t usually love photos of myself. i’m awkward. i’m weird. it feels uncomfortable. but it hits different when one of your oldest friends is behind the camera. and when it’s film. and when it’s art. and when it’s for something bigger than you. getting to step in front of the camera with my dear friend @corrina_ again was really special. (shout out to our last portrait session… about 25 years ago? 🥹) so much has changed since then. one week ago, i got to celebrate seeing her first book of film photography, @cold_summers.zine out in the world at @sfartbookfair a few days later, she was behind the camera as we photographed the launch of my second political campaign. that feels like one of those full-circle moments. we’ve known and loved each other through so many different seasons of life. getting to not just cheer each other on from the sidelines, but actually collaborate in this one, feels extra special. i told her i wanted these to feel less like campaign photos and more like me. that’s also one of the main reasons i wanted to do this on film. mostly because it forces you to let go of perfection. to say she understood the assignment would be an understatement. 🖤 📸 by the amazing @corrina_ … okay, now i need your help. which one should become the new profile picture? 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5? #filmphotography #campaignshoot #campaignstrategy #bayareacreatives #buildinpublic taken in Marin County by @avafruin__
