The interior of my artist book/ zine “Filling in the Gaps”! This book covers *almost* all of my tooth related artwork, in chronological order with artist statements/writing for each.

Writing, artwork and design layout all done by yours truly! Uses a 5X7 grid and a layout design rooted in the international typography system/ Swiss design! This project doubled as an assignment for my communication design class, as well as a portion of my exhibition for the Spring Storm show!

“GRL DINNER”

This piece reflects the yearning for something that doesn’t exist or isn’t achievable; feeling trapped within these desires.

It is inspired by something me and my friends always say, “I’m hungry for something that hasn’t been invented yet”.

This piece reflects this desire, this yearning for something you cannot fully grasp, as well as my complications/difficulty eating food following surgeries as well as current day, and not being able to bite into food/ needing to cut everything into bite sized pieces.

Illustration and design for the Green Eugene’s Pride edition Cover ! PROCESS: I started off by drawing this piece digitally in procreate, then used a mixed media approach by printing it out and physically adding glitter! Then I photographed it, and digitally manipulated the color and composition using Adobe Lightroom, Adobe photoshop, and Adobe InDesign!

I’m so grateful for my design shop team at The Emerald Media Group for trusting me with this piece! And sad to say this will be my last piece with The Emerald, but so happy with this final project and the progress I’ve made throughout my time here!

PROMPT: “Toska”- a deep spiritual anguish or restless longing without a clear cause- an all-consuming yearning that borders on existential.

This piece is very loaded with symbolism, different meanings, and personal experiences; and it is my favorite piece I have created in a while! taken in University of Oregon by @avakloosterart

Week 3 digital drawing! Prompt: Iktsuarpok- the restless feeling of anticipation that makes you keep checking to see if someone is coming- the charged waiting before arrival.

Significance: This illustration depicts the awaiting of a different version of myself. My majority of my family has anxiety, and as a child, I had no worries in the world, but I was always left wondering: “will this gene hit me eventually?” (It definitely did). This illustration is meant to depict these two versions of myself: carefree in my youth, however growing into the anxiety like a collar on my neck that only gets tighter as the stop watch ticks and ticks.

I chose to convey these feelings/experiences through greyhounds, as they are notoriously one of the most anxious, overworked dog breeds. The stop watch in the background symbolizes the passing of time, while also referencing the cruel history of greyhound racing. The red and blue color blocks in the background are meant to symbolize the calm vs the anxiety within the given stage of life. taken in University of Oregon by @avakloosterart

Week 2 illustration for my advanced digital art class!!

Prompt: “The feeling of solitude and peaceful connectedness experienced when alone in the woods - not loneliness exactly, but a quiet oneness with something larger than yourself”

I based this drawing on this feeling I would experienced when I was younger, this awe of the incomprehensible vastness of the world, the universe, and the every complex patterns within nature.
