Brought live illustration to @maisonperrierca x @canibringafriend Excuse My Chic Event the other week at @crew360saintjacques in 📍Montreal, QC.

Live illustrated A&T’s wedding guests last night 💍✨

The lovely couple wanted a custom background design for their portraits, so we illustrated their venue, @barmordecai — which made it extra special because it also happens to be where they had their first date 🥹

And can we talk about the outfits?! Everyone showed up looking SO good, which made it so much fun getting to capture all of their looks through illustration.

1. Think about where you’re placing your illustrator.
Choose a spot with good lighting and a clear view of your guests. It makes it much easier to capture their features and outfits accurately.

2. Consider the sound level around the illustration area.
If your illustrator is right beside a speaker or DJ, it can make it difficult to focus and interact with guests.

3. Don’t only plan your booking around the guest count. The number of guests is only one part of the equation. The style and amount of detail you want will also affect how many people can be accommodated.

4. Let your illustrator know about any VIPs ahead of time.
If there are specific guests you want to make sure are included, sharing that list with photos beforehand helps the artist plan accordingly.

5. More guests may mean adding another artist.
If you’re expecting a large number of portraits in a short window, adding a second illustrator can help you accommodate more guests without sacrificing quality.

6. Make sure your guests know the activation is happening.
A little signage or an announcement can go a long way in getting people to actually participate.

7. If you want more detailed portraits, allow more time per guest.
More detail naturally takes longer, so let your illustrator know whether your priority is maximum guest coverage or a more detailed illustration style.
