The allure of big game marlin fishing is captivating, so naturally the team on " Drop Back" is going to celebrate its 20lb test big game marlin release and being competitive against its peers in the prestigious Gene Grimes Memorial ILTT tournament. While also and most importantly remembering the very reason that brings all these teams together, and that is to remember Gene Grimes one of the all-time greats of the sport (see IGFA Legendary Captains and 2025 Tommy Gifford Award Winners). We can also take this valuable time to reflect upon the time shared in this passion with one another as that is the true victory. 🏆 taken in The Marlin Club by @avalonbourne72

The team on Drop Back stays connected to the great spirit with its chants. Whether we are thanking the spirits for what we have been given or staying connected to those spirits who travel with the winds in and out of Catalina Islands sage filled canyons and dance across the surface of the sea. The team from "Drop Back" is exercising patience with this striped marlin. After seeing the fish come into the pattern hot, the team dropped back two live mackerel. With a conversion to a bite, the team settled into an epic battle on 20lb test @izorlineinternational

After spending most of September fishing Catalinas East End out of Avalon. The first day of fishing away from the island in the @themarlinclub_sd ILTT felt like a road game. Shaking off frustration and the side effects of multiple slices of humble pie after day one, the team on "Drop Back" does battle with this fiery jig fish to get on the board in day two.
