Oh Coconut, you are the best and sleepiest little loaf of bread.

Did you know that rabbits produce a type of fecal pellet called cecotropes? They ferment food in their cecum, instilling it with probiotics and even manufacture their own B vitamins, and then eat it 😂

Kind of gross, but super cool and handy.

Just sewing matching sets of flop beds, snuffle mats, and snuffle balls. All these will be for sale at bunny yoga with @avalonmicrosanctuary this Sunday. And because I’m that volunteer who sometimes color coordinates blankets and buns at the rescue, each of these was made with a bun in mind. The Jerry, Princess Awen (who was just adopted at @princessarwenbunny and photo credit to her), and Oatmeal’s Fabulous Hair. Jerry and Oatmeal are both available for adoption now. by @avalonmicrosanctuary

We have so many little lop babies from our May hoarding case that it seems more important than ever to keep this information prevalent. Lop eared rabbits are continuously the most unhealthy rabbits we see at the rescue and in our clinics. They face so many breed related health issues that it is crazy how many people continue to breed them on purpose. Intervention and prevention for lops is crucial for maintaining their best quality of life. One of the best things you can do on the regular is check on and clean their ears, and bring them to their annual or bi annual vet visit to screen for any developing issues.

Treefrog could have had a much better life and health situation if he was brought into a rescue before he was succumbing to neglect and breed related health issues. So we share this for him!

Jerry loves eating his emeraid. He is such a sweet old boy who has been through so much. We would be thrilled to see him end up somewhere where he can eat emeraid and lounge in peace for the rest of his life 🫶💕

Jerry is neutered, vaccinated, and estimated to be 7-9 years old.

Melody, our sweet void with an angel kiss on the nose 💕

Melody loves looking eternally suspicious and surprised. She is very active and loves her toys and cardboard boxes, which she carves to her personal taste. Melody was born at our rescue and is one of the last babies from the litter to find a home. She is spayed, vaccinated, and deserving of the best family. 🫶

Natalia lost of her babies one by one in a home that refused to provide medical care for them. On the day we received them, she had 2 babies left, one that arrived dead, and Penelope who was dying. Penelope was so strong and fought to recover that day, to spend the rest of her life with her sweet mom. They are two peas in a pod and love each other so much.

Coccidia kills. It kills adults, it kills babies, and it is preventable. All of her babies could still be alive today.

Meet 3 of our 9 emergency intakes in October. We took in 6 rabbits as an emergency from someone who didn’t provide critical medical care and several rabbits had died. One of them, who we named acorn, died on the way to the clinic. We have mom, Penelope, and her 3 other babies from her first litter in the rescue. Everyone is doing great.

Help us! This month we are extremely low on donations, and have had to take on 9 extra bins as emergency surrenders.

Every rescue has its struggling moments, and this is on of ours. You all always come through to care for these bunnies and we fully believe in this community.
