One of my biggest accomplishments of this year is being apart of this beautiful piece of work.

"FROM UNDER THE PLACEMATE" BY @preciousmiracl
takes the struggle of black people within society that are have harmful and racist stereotypes placed upon them with no choice of their own. Stereotypes of being seen as animalistic, violence, uneducated, not human, having to battle the systematic issues of oppression of "WHITENESS".

The color white, a noun that is often seen as a symbol of peace. Having a holy connection to something spiritual. "WHITENESS" make the word to a ver, a form of action, or many actions. Actions that cause harm when not check. It covers us like weighted blanket filled with fast drying cement and it does this without our permission. Once we take actions to take the negative aspects of society that weighted blanked will turn as light as a feather and will be lifted from us.

QUESTIONS:
Do you take the time to learn about the Black people?
Do you believe some of the stereotypes placed on to them?
Have you checked if you have unintentional racial biases?
How do you use you voice and your ear when it come to injustice?

Thank you to my beautiful cast for making this piece come to life. My beautiful conversation and moments were had. Thanks to @csulbdance for the opportunity

And yes, It was extremely hard to breathe in that mask🤣 by @avalonsouth

And just like that, another lap around the sun completed. It's my Birthday 🎂 Happy Anniversary of life to me💜😁

1. I'm super grateful that I accomplished so much this year. Being the first one in my family to get a degree, before a few times this year, having my own place, with a cat that prayed for 5 years ago, I got my permit (License pending, lol), Gratful that I get to laugh, sing, dance, listen to music, talk with friends, my sister, my cat, or to myself, and just to be alive.

2. NGL, 25 whooped my ass, and came back multiple times to finish its job, lol. It was a rough start. I was homeless, had a knee injury, legal issues, and a lot of little things that felt bigger than that should have, but at the end of the day they're just little things and I'm bigger than all of that.

3. As I get older, I realize that I need to relax a lot more and not be afraid to ask for help when needed. It's always hard for me not to stress myself out, but I work on it each day. I know that one day (hopefully sooner rather than later), everything that I aspire to be and do will come, just playing games the long game.

4. Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I appreciate it more than yall know. Love you lots. Here to 26, and I'm ready to conquer.

5. Thank you, @malefolio , for the beautiful pictures you took months ago, lol. I had to save these for my special day. I really appreciate it 🙏. Beautiful beautiful camera work💜

This is a bit of a long one.

Two years ago, I applied to CSULB as a transfer, not really knowing if I wanted to go. I made the decision to do my in-person audition at the last minute. Let’s just say—it went extremely well, and I got accepted into the dance program.

I started going to CSULB as a homeless student with no money on my first day, and I was homeless again at the beginning of my second semester. I was scared and unsure if I could continue because I had nowhere to go, and I started to fall behind in class. What helped me through that time was being in my very first dance show later that year. Later on, I was homeless for the third time in two years, and going through the end of a good relationship made me fall behind again and fail a dance class I was fully capable of passing.

Each semester got harder after finding out I was adopted at 23, and I didn't have any real parents. I went through a huge identity crisis that broke my confidence and made me question my passion for dance. I didn’t feel good enough to be here. It seemed like everyone else had a strong sense of self, and I didn’t know who I was.

I also faced rejection—three times—after doing my first show. I didn’t take it well and started to question if I even belonged here. But after finding the help I needed, I learned that rejection is normal and part of the process.

Even with all the lows, there were many highs. I had fun in every class and am so grateful for all of my professors. Dance, lighting, costume, and stage crew were my all-time favorites.

As I complete my last semester and make up the failed class in the Fall, I just want to say thank you, @csulbdance , for everything—for the hard life lessons and the amazing friends I’ve made.

I’m part of the 23% of Black men to earn their bachelor’s. I’m also the first in my entire family—including extended—to do it.

I’m so proud I didn’t give up.

Well, my first show at a university was definitely something I'll remember. I remember being so shy transferring, and now I'm more comfortable than I ever thought I could be. Made some kick as new friends and got to represent a dance where I got the chance to rebloom into a new me. Thank you, @csulbdance , and thank you you @_fabianzuniga_, for letting me represent your vision. Until next time. Later Skater 🛹 by @avalonsouth

Wasn't sure if I wanted to post this but Sunday was freaking epic. Getting to work the Super Bowl Half Time Show was amazing. Getting to see @eminem my all time favorite rapper perform in front of my eye is something I thought would never happen in my lifetime. Met some cool people and truly an unforgettable experience. Thank you @mlzdances for even considering me in the first place. Total dream come true #superbowlhalftimeshow #sblvi by @avalonsouth

This kind of love is getting expensive
We know how to live, baby
We're luxurious, like Egyptian cotton

Working so hard, every night and day
And now we get the pay back
Trying so hard, saving up the paper
Now we get to lay back
Working so hard, every night and day
And now we get the pay back
The pay back, the pay back
