🖤🖤Happy 18th Birthday Javayah-Monáe🖤🖤

I’ve wrote this about 50 times and cried enough tears to fill the 7 seas. Today you step into adulthood, and my emotions are everywhere. I have no idea where the last 18 years went. It feels like just yesterday I was holding you in my arms, and now you’re growing into this strong, intelligent, and incredible young woman. Watching you become who you are today has been one of the greatest blessings of my life and I thank God everyday for guiding you and protecting you.

You’ve faced challenges with so much courage, and you continue to show me what strength, resilience, and grace really look like. I hope you always remember how powerful you are, how loved you are, and how capable you are of achieving any and EVERYTHING you set your heart on.

You are SOOOOOOO deeply loved by everyone who has crossed your path. Everyone who encounters you can feel your light, your kindness, and your beautiful spirit. You leave an impression on people that they never forget, and that is something truly special. YOU are so special.

As you step into this new chapter, I pray that God continues to guide your steps, protect your heart, and open doors that are meant just for YOU. Never settle for less than you deserve, and never forget where you come from. YOU deserve the universe and so much more.

No matter how grown you get, you will always be my baby. I will always be here for you in every way. I’ll forever be cheering you on, lifting you up, and loving you unconditionally.

Javayah-Monáe,
Today I get to say something I’ve dreamed about for a long time. As I write this, I’m holding back every emotion I didn’t even know I still had left to give.

I became your mommy at 19. I was young, scared, and carrying more weight than most people could imagine. Although I had an amazing support system, there were so many moments where the odds didn’t feel like they were in my favor. I beat every single one of them because of you.

Everything I’ve done up until this point has been for you. Every sacrifice, every sleepless night, every drop of sweat, every tear, every lesson even the ones that I had to learn the hard way, it all had purpose because it was building the life that would one day carry you into this moment.

You were the first person I ever fell in love with. You have always been my reason. When I didn’t know how I was going to make it, I would look at you and somehow find strength I didn’t know I had. On the days I felt like giving up, you were the reminder that I already had a reason to keep going. You saved me in more ways than you will never understand.

These 17 years with you have shaped me just as much as I’ve tried to shape you. You’ve taught me patience, resilience, humility, and a love so deep it cannot be measured or compared. There is truly no one in this world who has been a greater teacher in my life than you.

Now you’re stepping into your next chapter, college. A world that is going to challenge you, grow you, and introduce you to parts of yourself you haven’t even met yet.

There is not a second, minute, or day that I won’t be by your side. I am so proud of the woman you are becoming. Not just because of what you’ve achieved, but because of who you are at your core. You are strong, intelligent, loving, and full of purpose. Everything I’ve ever endured was worth it to see you here.

I thank God for you every single day. Go be great. Go explore. Go learn. Go become everything you’re meant to be. No matter where life takes you. I’ll always with you.

🖤Happy Birthday Mommy 🖤

To the strongest, most stubborn woman I’ve ever known 😤 besides my Granny. I realize more and more every year that so much of who I am comes from you. That fire in me, that standing ten toes down on everything I believe in, that refusing to fold when life gets hard, that’s you in me.

As a kid I didn’t understand a lot of your choices, but motherhood has given me a different lens, and now I see the sacrifices, the protection, the hard decisions made out of love, and how you always wanted nothing less than the best for me.

Thank you for loving me through every season, for shaping me into the person I am, and for teaching me strength even when you didn’t know you were teaching it. You have been my example in more ways than I can count.

Happy Birthday to my Granny, my best friend, my forever person 🤍

Not a day goes by that I don’t hear your voice in my head, guiding me through every decision and every moment. You will forever be my everything my reason, my safe place, and the purest love I’ve known. Life is not the same, and truthfully, the pain doesn’t get easier. I don’t think I learn how to properly grieve, and I don’t know that I ever will.

I smile when I’m happy, I cry when I’m sad, but through it all I carry so many memories of you being EVERYTHING I ever needed in a grandmother. Your love is whole, unwavering, and it shapes me in ways I understand more and more every year.

I thank God for giving me an angel that protects me, guides me, and teaches me every day. And don’t worry… even though you’re not physically here to get on my mom’s nerves, I definitely take your place in that department.

My heart has been in pieces for the last 2 years and honestly I don’t know how to even begin the thought process of putting the pieces back together. However, I’ve learned how to shut down a lot of noise to reflect and focus on what matters most. I know that you are so proud of me. I feel it. I know you are in heaven smiling down, still covering me the way you always do.

Thanking God for another year. 🙏🏽
For His guidance, protection, and covering over me, my family, and those I love most.

This was my year of INTENTION.
In everything I did, I moved with purpose. I learned to say no more frequently. I embraced my support system and prayed a lot of people out of my life. I accepted opportunities that aligned with my spirit and without guilt, I declined the ones that didn’t.

I watched my babies grow in ways that took my breath away. 🖤
Watching Javayah slowly transitioning out of high school and into her next chapter, and embracing Kyngston entering middle school, reminded me how quickly time moves and how precious every moment is.

I loved hard. And I loved hard enough to release when necessary. There were no bad experiences only lessons I will carry with me into my next chapter.

I’m still missing my best friend and learning how to operate life in a different way without her physically being here. I feel her closer than ever especially in my spirit. I can feel her guiding me as I continue aligning my life. It’s not easy, but I know she will never leave my side, and I know I will be okay.

🎉✨ Happy 12th Birthday to my Kyng Bear 🐻💜

For 12 years I’ve had the blessing of watching you grow into such a force. You’ve always been my little sour patch, sweet and loving but with that fire 🔥 side that keeps everyone on their toes.

From the very beginning you have always known exactly what you want and you never let anyone or anything get in your way.

I’ve watched you stay focused when you set your eyes on something and I admire your strength and determination more than you’ll ever know. You’ve taught me so much about resilience, about love, and about never giving up. You are my strength when I feel weak and my reason to keep going when I don’t know how.

Nobody tells you how hard it is when your kids really grow up.

I became a mom at 19. Fresh out of high school, 2 years into college and I was holding my whole world in my arms. There was no manual, no book, no perfect advice that could’ve prepared me for what this journey would be like. But if I had to live this life 1,000 times over, I’d choose her every single time. ❤️

Today was different. Today, I took my baby to her very last first day of school before she becomes an adult, and my heart is in pieces. The tears keep coming because I realize this chapter is almost closed. I’ve given her my blood, sweat, tears, and everything I had and through it all, she has never stopped loving me, even when I was still learning how to love myself.

I’m so grateful for the one who made me a mom. I’m so grateful for my village who stood beside me when I was just a little girl, trying to raise a little girl.

✨ First year of 6th grade ✨
I can’t believe my baby is officially stepping into middle school 😣😣! 📚💛

Kyngston-Monroe, watching you grow into such a smart, kind, and beautiful young lady has been one of my greatest blessings.

Lord, I ask that You place a hedge of protection over my daughter as she enters this new chapter. Guide her steps, cover her mind and heart, and keep her safe from harm. Surround her with good friends, positive influences, and the courage to always be herself. And Father, I extend this prayer to every child starting school this year may they all be protected, encouraged, and filled with wisdom and peace.
