Artist in Residence 2026: Ava Samii

Ava Samii (b. 1990, DK/IR, they/them) lives and works in Copenhagen and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2026.
Samii is interested in how shared spaces are shaped and reimagined through memory, sentimentality, ritual practices, and speculation about alternative worlds. Samii seeks to dissolve the boundaries between fiction, spiritual experiences, and embodied reality, challenging the hierarchies that shape how we value and understand these different forms of experience.

Ava Samii will be in residence at Refugiet Rævehaugen in June - July 2026.

Afgang, 2026

Shots from my contribution for our MFA graduation show at @kunsthalcharlottenborg
The show runs until august 9.

So much gatitude to everyone who has been a part of this process, for my friends, the amazing lectors and fellow students, for the past 6 years at @billedkunstskolerne. I am happy, tired and most of all exited for the next chapter to come.

Thank you for everything:
