Dear @ou_wgymnastics ,

I’ve spent the last few weeks trying to find the words to describe the past four years of my life, but the truth is there aren’t words big enough to explain how grateful I am for this experience.

Having the opportunity to be on this team has been the honor of a lifetime, but this journey has been so much more than just gymnastics. It’s been growth in the hardest moments, joy in the simplest ones, and learning not to take a single moment for granted. Looking back, I can truly say everything happened for a reason, and every part of it had its purpose.

There were moments along the way that I never realized would quietly become “lasts.” At the time, it was just another day, but now they’re the moments I wish I could go back and hold onto a little longer.

To KJ, Lou, Tom, Ash & Jenn: Thank you for believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself. For challenging me, pushing me to become the best version of myself, and helping shape me into the person I am today. The lessons that I have learned from you will go far beyond my time at Oklahoma, and I am forever thankful that you chose 13 year old Ava.

To my teammates: Thank you for becoming family. Every laugh, early mornings, bus rides, and sitting on the floor before practice. You made these years unforgettable, and life will never feel quite the same without you all every day.

To my family: None of this would have been possible without your unconditional love and support. It wasn’t an easy road, but grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. The sacrifices, late nights and early mornings, long drives, countless flights, and being there for me when I needed it most. Thank you.

And Faith: Thank you for being by my side through every moment. Through every high and low, every win and setback, every laugh and every tear, I truly wouldn’t have wanted to do this with anyone else. Having you by my side through it all, made this journey possible. We did it!!!

No matter where life takes me next, I know these years, these people, and this place will always be part of who I am. I am forever grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every memory along the way.

Words can’t describe the amount of gratitude for this team, for this journey, and for every moment that led us to THIS. Because everything really does happen for a reason, and I am incredibly thankful for this year with my best friends 🤍
