ROTATION #3: PSYCH ✅

Wooohooo 3/9 done! 🎉🧠

This rotation challenged me in ways I didn’t expect. To start I learned that telehealth is NOT fof me. While psychiatry may not be where I see myself practicing full-time, I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn from my patients and develop skills that will follow me throughout my career.

From learning how to have difficult conversations, recognizing psychiatric emergencies, and understanding the importance of truly listening to patients, this rotation reminded me that every specialty requires compassion, patience, and strong communication.

PEDIATRICS ROTATION REVIEW! 🧸

Someone needs to study the post pediatrics drop because when I tell you I was SO sad to leave I mean it. This rotation was incredible in every way. I fell in love with the population, the time spent with patients, and the variety of medical cases ranging from acute to chronic. Although I see myself starting full time in something inpatient, there is no way I can go without working with the pediatric population in some way! I will forever miss this rotation.

ROTATION ONE - EMERGENCY MED DONE ✅!!

Holy 🐄 I LOVED this rotation. I truly think if that’s all I do for the rest of my life, I’d be happy. Am I beyond excited to continue exploring medicine throughout these rotations? Absolutely. But man oh man, will I miss the ED.

I saw SO many patients, cases, and learned an incredible amount. Some unique cases I encountered included DKA, Wernicke encephalopathy, thyroid storm, and thoracic outlet syndrome secondary to a Pancoast tumor. One of the highlights of the rotation was placing a chest tube under the guidance of an attending, assisting with a central line, suturing what felt like every eyebrow laceration imaginable, and so much more.

This rotation reminded me why I fell in love with medicine in the first place. The fast pace, teamwork, critical thinking, procedures, and ability to care for patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives made every shift meaningful. I am so lucky to have had the most incredible preceptor to help guide me on my first rotation. I’m leaving this experience feeling more confident, more curious, and even more excited for what’s ahead! 🥹💗

How did we even get here? I am so beyond excited for this chapter. Most of it (nearly all of it) will stay offline- but what I will be sharing is what I learn about myself along the way and the skills I get to strengthen. I am so thankful for this opportunity. Lets do this!
