POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This is a little out of my comfort zone to post- but in honor of national eating disorder awareness week I thought I might as share my experience, so that maybe those silently struggling might not have to.
Those who know me know that I have struggled with an eating disorder for a lot of my life. My eating disorder consumed me in ways I would have never expected. Many memories, relationships and experiences were dampened by obsessive and crippling thoughts about my body and food. No matter how much I tried to fake a smile -I was drowning internally. It seemed impossible to do things that seemed easy to other people, and it became too hard to continue most days.
Because I never had the eating disorder “look” the severity of it was often overlooked, even though both physically and mentally I was extremely unhealthy. When I was finally brave enough to go to impatient recovery my sophomore year, I took the biggest step to recovery. It was the hardest thing I have ever done— but because I decided to try, I have been able to make more memories and meet people that bring joy and happiness into my life.
Although recovery is not linear, and the thoughts may not ever completely go away, being able to choose to keep going and giving everything I can to move forward is always the most important goal.
The people that have stuck with me through the ups and downs mean everything to me and thank you for your patience throughout the years. and thank you to everyone that chose to try and recover with me at CFC.
These pictures are times that I was happy and living in the moment without the weight of ED thoughts. 🤍
