How does one even choose a favourite star in the sky? Narrowing it down was nearly impossible, Madi and Cameron’s wedding was pure magic.

The first five frames are all @maddiscreativework , and I couldn’t be prouder. At 15, my daughter handled a full wedding in 30+ degree heat like a pro.

While half the internet was busy AI-ing themselves into Taylor Swift’s wedding, there was nowhere I’d rather have been than right here, capturing two beautiful friends finally say “I do.”

We’re so incredibly happy for you both. 🤍🥹

Hannah and Malcolm came for an adventure… and what an adventure it was!

We spent the final hour of our session whale watching as two whales gracefully made their appearance. I don’t think any of us will ever forget this past Sunday.

This time of year, humpbacks are common in our waters, but I’ve never had or seen this happen before.

I’m pretty sure I’ve officially peaked as an adventure photographer, there is just no topping this! 😆

So incredibly excited for their wedding next year. 🙏🏻 (I was watching Pride and Prejudice while editing these so here is some Liz on top of the world.) taken in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia by @averagejanephoto

Still culling this beautiful sunny wedding from Saturday. Shooting every single day over the Thanksgiving weekend while also trying to fit in our own family things was probably the most challenging of things.

My vehicle also decided to go into limp mode/ battery light igniting on me yesterday while I was out near Peggy’s Cove way, and my father in law drove all the way to Tantallon so he could drive behind me all the way home in case my car didn’t quite make it. It did make it home. But how lucky am I, I won the lottery when I married into this family.

Sharing this beautiful photo for now, while I work away at a proper sneak preview. ❤️ taken in Oakfield Golf & Country Club by @averagejanephoto

Happy Thanksgiving to my friends, clients, and the serial scrollers who occasionally pause long enough to hang out in my corner of the internet.

I’m thankful for every one of you, and for the particular set of exhaustion that comes from being booked solid. Not everyone gets to be tired for a good reason.

In the last four days (today included) I’ve logged 800 km for work, roughly the distance of driving through every island in the Bahamas. I worked yesterday morning, then clocked out at noon so I could commit fully to the food coma. Now I’m headed to Polly’s Cove to chase an epic little adventure.

Cheers to all of you. Here’s a look at Friday’s session with this beautiful fam. ❤️ by @averagejanephoto

Run for the Cure 2026, Bridgewater. Tears escaped. So many hugs were given.

I wish this didn’t touch all of us the way it does. There’s so much I want to say and, at the same time, no words that quite hold it… mostly sadness, anger, and that constant uncertainty. In a world full of hardship, it’s good to see people show up together, looking for hope and a shared chance to make a difference. taken in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia by @averagejanephoto

What an incredible day we had yesterday!!! Kara and Jordan you were a dream! I am still culling away the thousands upon thousands photos we took, but I will share this epic moment for the time being. 🤍

You planned the most perfect wedding. Thank you so much for choosing me from this very rich in talent province, I got to be the lucky one to witness probably one of the most lit dance floors I’ve seen in a while. Shirts were flying, I mean it was that level lit! 😆👌🏻

A bald eagle flew over the ceremony as guests were being seated, there were even butterflies flying around the flowers. You may have not seen those moments but I captured them for you. This wedding was blessed in so many ways. 🥹 taken in The Farm at South Cove by @averagejanephoto

Things the internet was wrong about:

1. Japan isn’t quiet. Kids run around, laugh, and cry the same way they do anywhere else. During Silver Week events they kept running over my feet because the crowds were packed and kids don’t have much spatial awareness. If you’re bringing your kids to Japan, don’t worry. They’ll fit in with how it actually is, not the version the internet keeps selling.

2. People talk and laugh on the trains. Everyone was just living their lives, and I was honestly happy to see it. The trains only went quiet when people were travelling alone and had no one to talk to.

3. People help all the time and they don’t get annoyed that you look lost. I had so many moments where someone spotted the giant invisible question mark over my head. After a few days I felt comfortable saying “sumimasen, kore wa doko desu ka?” Nobody acts insulted by a simple question.

4. Don’t buy duty free. Just pay the 10% consumption tax. You’re going to want to wear the shoes, the outfit, and the makeup. Duty free stuff goes into a sealed bag you’re not supposed to open until you’re out of the country. I don’t know how many people actually follow that rule.

5. Ubers and taxis are everywhere. If you’re wiped from walking 20,000 steps, just grab a cab home. It’s not cheap, but by the end of the day when the kids were collapsing into me, it was worth it. Most places don’t take tips, but GoTaxi and Uber do, so I tipped our food delivery drivers and cab drivers.

6. Restaurants don’t care how long you stay, whether you placed your chopsticks the right way, or whether you said “Itadakimasu” before you ate. We went out to dinner in a big group, it was loud, the table was covered in plates, and we sat there for hours. People even smoke in restaurants. It felt like living in the 90s again.

That’s all I can think of for now. Once you get past the language barrier, everything starts to feel not so different after all. taken in Tokyo, Japan by @averagejanephoto
