Year number 6… and where do I even begin?

Every year I tell myself there is no way it could get any better, and somehow it always does. This year has been filled with so much love, laughter, growth, and new beginnings.

I have seen tremendous growth not only in my dancers, but in my staff as well. Their dedication, passion, and love for our dancers inspire me every day and remind me why I continue to work so hard for this studio and the community we’ve built together.

My little ones have gotten taller, gained confidence, and become one of my favorite parts of every week. There is nothing quite like watching a child walk into the studio shy and unsure of themselves, only to light up on stage months later. I love every smiling face that has trusted me and proudly called me “Miss Avery” — or even “Miss Appleberry.”

To my older dancers, thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. Watching you grow not only as dancers but as people has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. You remind me that dance is about so much more than technique; it’s about confidence, friendships, resilience, and finding a place where you belong.

To Miss Lila, never stop following your heart. You will be incredibly missed, but I know we will always be in each other’s corner. To Miss Shelby, enjoy this next year and take it all in. You are going to do amazing things, and you have made me so proud.

As I reflect on recital weekend and another year coming to a close, my heart is so full. Thank you for trusting me with your children, your dreams, and your love. What started as a dream six years ago has become something bigger than I ever imagined, and it is because of all of you.

As I wrap up my 5th year being Steppin Up’s owner, I’m filled with gratitude. Owning a dance studio has been one of the most challenging and rewarding journeys of my life — and I couldn’t have done it alone.

To my incredible dancers: thank you for trusting me with your talent, your time, and your hearts. Watching you grow not just as artists, but as confident, strong individuals is why I do what I do. Your hard work and passion inspire me every single day.

To the parents and families: thank you for your unwavering support — for the rides, the costume changes, and the late nights. You are the foundation that helps make all of this possible.

To my staff and instructors: thank you for sharing your energy, creativity, and dedication. I’m so lucky to work alongside people who care just as deeply about our dancers and our mission as I do. You help bring this studio to life.

To my own support system — my friends, my family, everyone who believed in me even when others doubted me, and God. Thank you for pushing me, listening to me, and never letting me give up.

This studio is more than a place to dance. It’s a home, a community, and a safe space where people come to be seen, supported, and celebrated. This year we had so many new faces and my heart is overwhelmed with the joy of young dancers that come in and find their passion. And for that, I am endlessly thankful. I had a grandparent approach me this weekend and say that she has never seen so much passion and love for dance until she watched us. She said our girls seemed genuinely happy on stage and it brought tears to my eyes knowing that people can see that from our studio.

Here’s to the hard work behind every step, the applause that reminds us why we do this, and the growth that’s still ahead. I’m so deeply grateful to each and every one of you.
