First solo trip to Ireland complete!! One of the most amazing experiences of my life! I got to meet the author of one of my favorite books, see the cliffs of Moher which was by the far my favorite out of the whole trip. I tried Guinness for the first time, definitely an acquired taste but not gross. The Book of Kells was so cool, especially after taking a Celtic course in Uppsala. Dublin was so beautiful and I lucked out with great weather! Already planning to go back!! 🇮🇪

Smålandet Markaryds Älgsafari

This was such an amazing adventure. I started my day bright and early at 12am where I took 2 different trains to get to Markaryd, a small village in the countrywide about 5-6 hours from Uppsala. Then I ate breakfast at a cafe and rested, before walking to the safari. It was about a mile walk but was so beautiful. The safari ride was so fun; the tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We got to feed moose and bison. Then we could walk around the grounds: go to the vantage point, pet and feed the goats, and check out the cafe and gift shop. I had a moose hotdog which was delicious (I’m not sure if they kill their own moose and I don’t think I want to know 😬). I then went back into town where I checked out some shops before making the journey back home.

It’s been a busy few weeks!! We had an international student welcome event and i survived the first 2 weeks of courses. I’m slowly learning Swedish; I finally know the alphabet and can recognize certain words and introductory phrases (definitely not the same as learning Spanish). I took a quick trip to Stockholm and Sundbyberg to get my visa and walk around. I visited the royal palace which was beautiful and walked around the mall. I officially joined Västgöta Nation which is where our crayfish party was and the delicious soup lunches are. The crayfish party was super fun, however I did discover I don’t like crayfish at all and I did not like the de-shelling process at all 🦞 I visited an autumn market just outside of Uppsala with a bunch of different crafts and delicacies. I tried brunch at Östgöta Nation and food delivery for the first time (Nutella Oreo churros were sooo good 😋) Off to Uppsala Culture Night tomorrow aka Kulturnattan Uppsala ☺️ #uppsala #studyabroad #uppsalauniversitet by @avery_where

Here’s to almost 2 full weeks abroad!!! I’ve fully moved into my apartment (however still shopping for some plants and trinkets), successfully went grocery shopping, learned how to use the laundry and operate the bus system (only took the wrong bus once!). I’ve gone to a bunch of different nation events for international students some of which were pizza at the pub (mushroom and ham), board game night, a tour of Uppsala (saw the castle, botanical gardens, the cathedral and more), princess cake baking (not my fav treat but great chatting with everyone) and fika. I’m slowly learning my way around the city and campus buildings and meeting new friends!! Cheers to classes starting next week 😁 #sweden #studyabroad #uppsalauniversitet by @avery_where

Hello from Sweden!!! We’ve officially made it to Scandinavia. We got to O’hare super early to hang out and chill at the lounge. Then after a 3 hour flight delay, we finally made it to Madrid for our layover. Then we enjoyed coffee and breakfast at the lounge before getting on our next flight to Stockholm and then on to Uppsala! We walked around a bit and got dinner (some of the best pasta ever, coming from someone who doesn’t prefer Italian food) and now resting before a busy day tomorrow! #sweden #studyabroad by @avery_where
