My baby brother,

The way you accomplished your job so well on this earth in 16 years has lit a fire in me, and so many others, that I will thank you and God for every day until I get to join you and Jesus up there in our Eternal Home. And the best way I know how to honor you and the effect you affect on this earth is to choose every day to live like you.

I’m gonna choose to live like you, B.
I’m gonna make you or God’s name known in every conversation I have.
I’m gonna give more intentional hugs the way you did.
I’m gonna continue telling the goofy jokes only you would laugh at…even if no one gets it.
I’m gonna protect Peyton and the boys for you, even if they didn’t ask for it.
I’m gonna make sure mom and dad don’t cry alone.
I’m gonna make people feel as loved as you did when I leave a conversation.
I’m gonna keep running after the Lord with no hesitation the way you did.
I’m gonna watch sunsets and see you behind them every time now.

I’ll forever be proud and honored to be your big sister.

I’ll be watching for you in the sunsets, B. See you in the clouds someday soon🩵🕊️

For 16 years you woke up to moms signature breakfasts with a birthday twist - pancakes, French toast or tacos - while all of us annoyingly singing happy birthday to you as you were still rubbing your eyes.
For 16 years you celebrated with us and your closest friends and somehow always incorporated a sport for your birthday outing.
For 16 years we were overwhelmed with goofy teenage boy humor surrounded by your friends, but the smile on your face made up for the headaches.
For 16 years I’d be so lost on what to get you that was less expensive than nike dunks or tickets to see your favorite basketball team.

Year 17 you get hear to the voice of angels singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to you.
Year 17 Jesus is bringing you a full stack of pancakes with 17 sparkling candles, joining voices with the angel choir.
Year 17 I can see you having a special birthday basketball tournament headlining you and Kobe Bryant, accompanied by armies of loved ones.
Year 17 you’re watching over us through the blue birds and sunsets as we laugh and cry with your best buddies and the entire community you built for us before you went Home.

We know you’re having the best birhday yet and we’re so happy for you, but we all can’t help but to have FOMO from down here. We cant wait to celebrate with you again buddy, I love you so much and hope our tears aren’t distracting you from your special day up there.

Happy 17th Birthday in Heaven, B. Love your big sis! 🩵 by @averylrob

Avery lost her brother this past year in a car accident. Nothing about that is easy or makes sense.

But she’s seen God’s goodness in the middle of it. Not by changing the situation, but by surrounding her with people who showed up, loved her well, and carried her through it. She’s stronger today because of it.

That’s the kind of community we’re building.

Come be part of it. See you Tuesday. by @averylrob
