My amazing dad is a captain! He has been putting in so much work and now he’s getting recognized for it. He sets the example for me and many others in the way of leadership, and I couldn’t learn them from anyone better. I honestly don’t know where to start. My Nam passed away last weekend, and this week has been a whirlwind. Everyone shared great stories and memories about her, so I thought I should too. While we lived two hours away, she never failed to brighten my day. From the morning texts to the random visits, she always showed me that she cared about me just as much as my cousins that she saw everyday.

My favorite memories are our morning donut runs, surprising everyone at the house when we got back. At some point it probably wasn’t a surprise, but we loved doing it. Baking was always our thing, she’d tell me to pick something from one of her many cookbooks and we’d spend the morning making it. The next time I attempt to make something, I know she’ll be smiling from above. She also taught me to do whatever I can to help others, going the extra mile whenever I can. We’ve all realized this week where we get our giving hearts from, and it’s her. She watched us this week, proud of the people she raised and who they’ve become.

Nam, thank you for bringing us all together again and giving us a chance to reconnect with each other. I know this week brought me closer to my cousins and I know that you watched as it happened. Anabel asked you to come back as butterflies, dragonflies, and all the pretty flowers. I ask the same because they represent you so well. We love you, miss you, and can’t wait to see you.
