Well I had an amazing few days in London on my #londonstaycation, we went on the train for a family getaway and King's Cross station itself is always a pleasure to see.

My 9 year old has always loved the underground and did all the navigation himself!

We visited the @theo2london , rode an uber boat on the Thames, saw the @lego leicester square store (of course) and the m&m flagship store before heading back to Stratford which I recommend as a place to stay. The @westfieldstratfordcity is incredible and Stratford station has excellent transport links.

Our day two we completed @madametussauds & mooched around Oxford street for @theofficialselfridges and resisted the jellycats! Of course we went to the @disneystoreuk to beat up my credit card. We then saw @bttfmusical which was incredible!

Our final day we saw a hidden gem at @young.vam of the Aardman exhibition! My son loves Wallace and gromit and learnt so much!
We did covent garden, borough market and got a few trips on some different tube lines and the DLR.

We have visited London a few times as a family and love it! I'd love to help anyone plan their trip with my travel agency business #whimsicalgetaways! DM for details.

As much as I love an aeroplane getaway - I also appreciate a good #staycation. Just one night in hotel and a planned activity or two gives you an adventure and feels as exciting as those expensive thrills abroad. An advantage of the UK is you're never too far a drive from something new 👀

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2026 🌎

When I am not out on adventures or booking trips for clients, in my day job I work for our NHS as a Occupational Therapist in adult mental health services.

I see and feel first hand just how tricky living with ill mental health can be for people, and as the demands of living comfortably rise - it is getting harder each day to manage mental health. I've been no stranger to feeling vulnerable and burnt out of late, it really isn't nice. Day to day activities like showering, getting your shopping feels like a marathon.

I set up Whimsical Getaways for several reasons, but the main one was a new occupation and meaningful activity to engage with as a parent and full time worker - I forgot how to relax and enjoy myself outside of annual leave. I LOVE connecting with new clients and arranging their memories and my new tribe of fellow travel agents are friends I never knew I needed 😘. Trips are therapy so why not build something around it and I am so glad I did!

My advice as a clinician? Pick something new to do for yourself, it isn't just kids who need enrichment and play. Learn to ride a horse, ballroom dance, bake?? See where it takes you 🙂
