Introducing "Gyals Night Out: The Pregame"

I heard Pon De Replay for the 1st time in Barbados, in 2005 fresh off the radio in my older sisters hair salon. 20+ years later, I discovered this remix and went back to the BIM 🇧🇧 and felt a gravitational pull to create a choreographed piece. I welcome you to the visuals and women that came to my mind as I listened to this song... I used the strong influences of Dancehall, Femmology, and Whining Styles to communicate through motion.

I'm good on my own, but they make me better 🥰 as we get closer to the release date of my first independent production "Gyals Night Out", I want to share some BTS from the shoot day in July. Everyone involved with this project had something special to offer during this process.

Some intangible things offered include patience, grace, expertise, talent, mindfulness, and overall kindness ❤️ not only did you all give these things to me but to one another in the process. Having a team that works cohesively doesn't happen every day, so I won the lottery this summer! by @avianna94_

For the 1st time, I danced in a pilot for the anticipated series called "Sweatbox" by thee Crystal Waters 🙌🏾🫶🏾💃🏾 after 3 outfit changes and uplifting house music by legendary DJ's, today was perfect. Thank you @saviorelmundo for bringing me on board, and thank you, @naomijones._, for joining me in this experience. It truly feels good to be seen and motivated to share my gift 🥹 taken in Brooklyn, New York by @avianna94_

This wknd was full of body rolls, whining, ticking, and lines just how I like it 🥰 Slide 1: Choreo by @naomijones._ to @kwnway (touch myself 🎵) she shared her gift once before the big move to the UK. Check out her donation link and send good vibes ✨️

Slide 2: @marissamovements & @callme.rose_ taught a twerk and whine class, so I had to support my fellow 🇧🇧 bajan queen & do it for the carribean diaspora in general 🌴 these ladies are amazing & experienced dance instructors! Song - Princess going digital @amaarae by @avianna94_

Introducing my talented dancers for "Gyals Night Out", a dance visual to Pon De Replay by none other than @badgalriri ! I felt inspired during my last vacation to the BIM 🇧🇧 back in April, so yall are in for a treat.

Make sure you check out each dancer and share this post because this is a multifacted bunch 🔥 Every woman is bringing something special to this piece, and I truly feel like I made the best decision to cast them.

The first slide is a blend of rehearsal footage captured over the last two months by me and @imbrandonaponte (who is also the audio engineer)

Slides 2 - 7 are self explanatory ☺️ do yourself a favor and check out these ladies and their craft(s). by @avianna94_
