Above us, the trees are letting go
amber and rust, dropping softly onto the dirt.
Beside the trail, the lake is wide and still,
a blue so clear it feels like looking into sky.
It holds everything
the sun, the color, the quiet
without trying to keep any of it.

Notice how the light cuts clearer through the bare branches,
how the forest finds a quiet grace, not despite the loss,
but living inside it. by @avianpaige

It breaks the heart to see the water go,
To lose the depth that kept the spirit whole,
While marveling at what begins to grow
Within the newly hollowed, thirsty bowl.
For life, too, drains its deepest reservoirs,
Exposing barren soil we tried to hide,
Yet forces us to bloom beneath the scars,
And find new beauty where the old world died. by @avianpaige
