Not every Rolex was made for sale.

This is a 1973 Rolex Ref. 3833 “King Faisal” Presentation Watch; a genuine New Old Stock example preserved for more than 50 years.

During the reign of King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, watches like this were commissioned as prestigious gifts for visiting heads of state, diplomats, and distinguished guests as a symbol of appreciation and friendship. Because King Faisal’s reign lasted only from 1964 to 1975, examples bearing his name are among the rarest and most desirable Saudi Royal presentation Rolex watches ever produced.

This watch is complete with its original Saudi presentation box, papers, hang tags, original case back sticker, and original gold Rolex buckle. making it an exceptionally preserved full set.

Not every vintage Rolex tells a story.

This one lived it.

A 1942 Rolex Oyster Royalite Ref. 4220, preserved in remarkable original condition and accompanied by an extraordinary history. Originally owned by Master Sergeant John A. Davis of the U.S. Air Force, this watch remained with him through years of military service and aviation.

Its untouched multi-tone Pilot dial, original lume, blued center seconds hand, unpolished case, engraved caseback, and 1957 Rolex expandable bracelet make it a truly exceptional survivor.

Even more remarkable, this complete set includes the original Rolex box, guarantee, receipt, Davis’s Air Force flight suit, military ID, medals, insignia, photographs, and a period image of him wearing this very watch on his wrist.

Some watches measure time.
Others preserve history.

This extraordinary Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 6285 from 1953 is far more than a rare early automatic Rolex. It is a historical artifact with remarkable provenance, originally owned by Major General Frank White, a distinguished officer in the United States Air Force who played a key role during the 1952 Tehran mission. This mission was part of the U.S. military support sent to stabilize Iran during the political turmoil surrounding Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh and Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. The watch was personally gifted to Major General Frank White by the Iranian leadershipin recognition of his service and contribution to restoring order in the region.
The case back engraved “Frank White – Tehran, Iran – 1952”, marking both its military and diplomatic significance. Very few Rolex watches carry such a direct connection to mid-century world events and to a verified U.S. General involved in one of the most important political moments of the Cold War era.
The watch itself is a collector’s dream. The waffle dial, one of Rolex’s most admired textured patterns, has aged to a stunning, warm patina with rich depth and perfect symmetry. The unique hour markers, referred to by collectors as either “tear” or “diamond” markers, remain crisp and sharp, giving the dial a distinctive sparkle under natural light. The original hands are completely untouched and still retain their original rhodium finish, a true rarity for a 70-year-old piece.
The case remains completely unpolished, preserving its sharp lines and authentic proportions as it left the factory in the early 1950s. The case back still has the original factory engraving (MODELE DEPOSE AND REGISTERED DESIGN) The original expandable bracelet, dated 1953, was manufactured by Gay Frères (G&F), the most prestigious bracelet maker of the era and a long-time authorized Rolex supplier. “Breguet auto compensateur” is a great reminder that Rolex once used Breguet hairsprings in their movements. This wasn’t something Rolex randomly added for marketing. It was printed on the official timing certificate because the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC) and earlier Swiss observatory testing authorities required movement specifications to appear when issuing these certificates. At the time, a Breguet overcoil hairspring was considered a premium feature for better accuracy, and this paperwork quietly proves Rolex was using them. #vintagerolex #breguet by @awadwatches
