Dutch-Antillean crossover dancehall/reggae artist, born in Willemstad, Curaçao (in the
former Netherlands Antilles). A member of Punky Donch, performing with lyrics in
Papiamentu,Dutch and English
Awaras has been making music since the age of 6. He scored his first hits in elementary
school in Curaçao with ‘AMI KU MI PEIKI’ and 'MONALISA' , before relocating to Amsterdam,
North Holland, in the Netherlands at age 15. Performing alongside hip-hop group
'Trapmindz' he performed at festivals like Uitmarkt and the Popkomm and doing opening
acts for big artits like Cypress Hill.

In 2008, Awaras formed the group Punky Donch together with the other seven members of
the band releasing their debut album "Gangsta Reggae" which featured songs like
‘Sensimilla’ and ‘Mi Kier Bo Awe’ which charted on radio stations in the Netherlands
Antilles and Europe. This lead to many performances by the group, including shows at the
the Rototom Sunsplash in Italy , the Amsterdam Reggae Festival ,Park Pop,Zwarte
Cross,Antiliaanse feesten Hoogstraten(Belgium) , Reggae Sunsplash(Germany) and many
more .

Awaras has since pursued a successful solo career parallel to his group ventures
with Punky Donch.
Awaras has since shared the stage with many big artists such as ,
Sean Paul,Protoje,Capleton,
Queen Ifrica,Elephant man,Mr Vegas and more.
Awaras also has two Awards to his name :
-Best Reggae band Benelux 2010
-Best upcomming reggae band 2013 (British Reggae Industry Awards)
