Ready to get SPOOKED? As Halloween is upon us, we jumped at the opportunity to participate in the AI Horror Film Competition hosted by @curiousrefuge and @epidemicsound

In a fog-bound village in old Sweden, a young man is drawn into the forest by the sound of a violin. At the foot of a waterfall he finds Nix, the water spirit who teaches mortals to play in exchange for something far more precious.

He returns home with a gift. When he plays, the village dances.

NIX is our 3-minute folk-horror short and the pilot for an anthology series built on Swedish folklore.

These are the stories we grew up with, and it's been a joy to finally give one of them the time it deserves.

Kairos is an Official Selection at the James Drake Media x AI Movie Awards London 2026.. It screens in front of a jury with roots in The Matrix, Harry Potter and Mission: Impossible.

We made this one slowly and with a lot of care. It's good to see it travel.

Einstein's equations quietly imply something most physicists prefer not to dwell on: your future may already exist. Past, present, future, equally real, all at once.

French physicist Philippe Guillemant takes that further and asks the most interesting follow-up: if the future is already there, is it finished?

His answer: it exists the way a draft exists. Written, but not carved. A genuine intention plants a new future and that new future starts pulling the present toward it.

Which brings him to something humans have circled for centuries: synchronicity. Jung named it, but left it a mystery. In his book "The Road of Time" (La Route du Temps), Guillemant gives those strange, meaningful coincidences an illogical logic.

And he doesn't ask to be believed. He treats it as an experiment, runs it on his own life, and urges readers to try it on theirs. I have. Synchronicity has followed me around for years, but this is the first time I've consciously invoked it rather than just noticed it afterward.

Six slides won't do it though. If this kind of thing interests you, "The Road of Time" is an absolute must-read.

The slideshow was made in MiniMax's new Design app, a desktop agentic board with plugins, skills, templates, and most of the current image and video models in one place. To experiment a bit with it, we used a Vox Presentation style skill and tested; could it take this idea that recently blew our minds and make it communicate in six slides? Smart platform, occasionally answers in the wrong language mid-thought, which we've chosen to find charming.

As all things AI, it still needs human input and correction when hallucinating, but overall a very smooth workflow and definetly something we'll explore more in the weeks to come!

Just back from Crete, Knossos, and hours in the archaeological museum in Heraklion.

Given what I do for a living, I couldn't resist seeing what it might have looked like alive. I fed our own photos of the site, the artefacts and the museum's wooden model of the palace into MiniMax Design, an agentic board that runs on the desktop. It synthesised the photos from the museum with the look of the real ruins, then into video using MiniMax's H3 and Seedance 2.5.

Not historically correct in every frame, that's where real work comes in. But it got our imaginations going all over again.

Maybe one day we'll do something for real that truly honours that fascinating Minoan civilisation.

We’ve been testing Hailuo’s new MiniMax H3.

It’s good. It’s cheap. It takes a little longer to render.

What stands out is how well it holds together. Less of the usual morphing and melting. Things keep their shape and their weight, and bodies move like they know the rules of the room. That coherence is the part that matters to us.

Worth a place in the pipeline.

Hailuo's MiniMax H3 is about to release!

This is a HUGE update from their previous models. Native 2K, integrated stereo audio, and multi-asset reference control in one pass. Hailuo is now officially on the Omni train.

Takeaways after testing the waters with photorealism a little bit:

Acting & Physics: Surprisingly strong performances, and physics hold up very good for the most part.

The Vibe: Most renders seems to hold a subtle Easter egg of unreality in the details. We still love those 😂

The Workflow: Because it’s significantly cheaper than models like Seedance, it’s a huge win for rapid pre-vis, story building and even final renders.

Definitely a tool worth adding to your pipeline!

Here's something we've noticed: the stories that stay with you aren't always the big ones. Sometimes it's just two monks and a muddy road. We have a few of these, stories that surface without warning, that end up in conversations about work, about decisions, about people.

Tanzan and Ekido is such a story. It's an old Zen tale that has been with us as long as we can remember.

When we started making films with AI, one of the first questions was: can you just make something you love? No pitch, no brief, no client. Just a story, translated on screen. This is that.
