Familyyyy y Moonlit Daughter is finally here! 🌙✨

We’re so happy to share a collection we’ve spent over a month and a half dreaming up, planning, and weaving by hand. You’ve been part of it too, from choosing the colour palette to exploring some of the designs together in our stories. 🥹💜

For us, beading goes beyond creating pieces to sell. Each piece is wearable art, our way of telling stories and giving shape to what we feel. 🪡🤍

This collection grew out of a deeply meaningful chapter in my life as I await my daughter’s arrival. Each design carries the story of a woman in my family, and bringing them together has given me so much inspiration during this time. I feel so happy to have finished it this way, with their stories woven into something I can now share with you. 🌙

Working with @johnbeadcorp Cylin Beads has been another level of magic! Their glow-in-the-dark beads opened up so many creative possibilities. And thank you to @planbead_app, whose new glow-in-the-dark feature helped us imagine each design in both light and darkness. ✨

This collection holds so much love, time, and a little piece of our family. We hope you find something of your own story in it too. 💜

Named after my maternal grandmother, Sara, these earrings honour her love of turtles, she had the most amazing turtle collection! 🐢💜 We share a name, and through this piece, I carry a little of her story into my own. 🤍

Turtles hold different meanings across Latin American Indigenous traditions. In Maya imagery, the turtle’s shell represents the earth and is connected to the rebirth of the maize god, a beautiful link between the turtle, nourishment, and the renewal of life. 🌱

For me, the turtle also evokes patience, protection, and the quiet strength of moving through life at our own pace. Its shell becomes a reminder of home, of the love and memories we carry wherever we go. 🌿

Woven in shades of blue, violet, and soft pink, with bright green accents and taken in Montreal, Quebec by @awaska_art

Coming from Colombia, where the sun shines almost all year round and there's always something growing, experiencing the four seasons has been a whole new journey for us. 🍂🤎

At first, it wasn't easy. The long winters, the lack of sunlight, and those days when everything felt a little heavier really affected us. We missed the warmth, the green, and the feeling of life happening all around us.

But little by little, living here has taught us something beautiful: to appreciate each season for what it brings. The excitement of seeing everything bloom in spring, the long summer days, the colors of autumn, and even the quiet of winter.

Nature has its own rhythm, and no matter how much we wish we could, we can't stop it from changing. Everything moves, transforms, rests, and begins again.

And somewhere in the middle of all that, there's us. Growing, changing, learning to let go, and trying to appreciate the beauty of where we are, instead of always looking forward to what's next.

I think having children teaches us that too. They don't worry about how long a season will last. They just want to touch the leaves, pick up an apple, run through the grass, and discover the world one little thing at a time.

Maybe that's one of the greatest gifts of being parents: learning to see the world again through their eyes.

This Thanksgiving, we're grateful for this little family, for the changing seasons, for the journey that brought us here, and for everything nature continues to teach us.

Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. 🍎🤎

Just in time for Halloween, Sara and Diego of @awaska_art have shared their step by step tutorial for these fabulous Glow in the Dark Ghost Earrings!

This is such a fun design, and the glow in the dark Cylin™ beads make it even better. Sara and Diego walk you through the beadwork, the long fringe and all the little details that bring these ghosts to life.

As women, we’re like the phases of the moon. We change, grow, and turn inward. Some days we share our light. Other days we need to listen, rest, and care for what’s taking shape within us. Everything is moving, even when we seem to be standing still. 🌙

I wove this collection while my daughter grew inside me. With every piece, I felt a connection between my hands, my body, and the life growing within it. Bead by bead, it became a little ritual of waiting to meet her.

To me, the moon feels like a universal mother, a quiet presence that holds us through the night. Looking at her, I think about the tenderness and strength of caring for another life, and the kind of mother I hope to be.

Expecting a daughter has also made me look at my own experience as a woman. I think about what I want to pass on to her, what I’m still learning, and what I’d like to change.

I hope she learns to trust her voice and her body. To embrace her femininity in whatever way feels true to her, with room for her strength, her softness, her sensitivity, and all the parts of herself she’ll discover. I hope she feels free to change, to take up space, and to know that she deserves love in every phase of her life.

In Spanish, we say “dar a luz” when someone gives birth, literally, “to give light.” Those words mean so much more to me now. While I wait to bring my daughter into the world, she’s already brought so much light into mine.

This is how Moonlit Daughter came to life 🌙 A collection dedicated to my daughter, to the strength of women, and to those who came before us.

October feels especially meaningful this year: it’s the month we’re expecting our little girl. As the nights grow longer and autumn invites me to slow down and look inward, I’m also making room for her, in our home, in my life, and in everything I create.

Handwoven with glow-in-the-dark Cylin Beads @johnbeadcorp these pieces hold light and reveal it in the darkness. To me, they’re a little reminder of everything that grows quietly.

Moonlit Daughter 🌙
Launching October 14 · 6 PM Montréal time.

I can’t wait to share these pieces with you ✨

For you, my little girl. My hands weave, my body holds you. 🤍

❤️✨ Making things by hand really changes the way you look at what you buy. You start noticing the tiny details and wondering how long something took, or how many tries it took to get it right.

That’s a good place to start: being a little more curious about the things we bring home and the people who make them.

And we get it, budget matters. Buying handmade isn’t always possible. Taking care of what we own, buying things we’ll actually use, or recommending a small business counts too 🫶

We love that markets make room for those conversations. You can meet us, see the pieces up close, and ask how they’re made. We’d love more of that in everyday life.

What do you love most about buying handmade? 🤍

MY LAST MARKET… AND A NEW CHAPTER 🥹❤️

Familia, this was my last market of the year. I’m starting my maternity leave, and Diego will be taking over 100%. And honestly, I couldn’t imagine leaving Awaska in better hands. ❤️

These past two weekends at @collectifcreatifmtl were incredible! 🥹❤️ We broke our sales record, met wonderful people, and saw so many familiar faces. It felt so special to come back after the summer and, at the same time, say goodbye for a little while.

Through it all, I kept thinking about my first markets. Back then, Diego was working so much and doing deliveries on weekends too. I would bead, prepare everything, set up the stand, sell, and pack it all up afterward. Little by little, we kept believing in this dream and finding ways to help it grow.

Today, I can hand things over to him because Awaska has become our family project and a source of income for our family. You helped make that possible. Every person who stopped by, chose a piece, recommended us, or came back just to say hello. ❤️

I was also thinking about how we came to beadwork. We never started with a business in mind. It was something we did from the heart, a way of living and expressing ourselves that eventually became our work too.

It helps support our family today, and we still create from that same place. We’ve always believed there are things more valuable than money: what we learn, the people we meet, and the experiences we carry with us.

That’s what we’ve loved so much about doing this in Montréal. Beadwork has connected us with people and places that are now part of our story. You’re such a big part of everything we take home from these markets. 🫶

I’m ending this season with so much love in my heart. Now it’s time to slow down a little and get ready to welcome the newest member of our family. 🥹💜

Thank you for helping us keep building this dream. We love you, familyyy. You’ll see Diego at the upcoming markets, and I hope to see you all again soon. ✨

With love,
Sara ❤️

One of our favorite things about @collectifcreatifmtl markets is that we always leave feeling like we’ve traveled a little. We meet people from so many places, hear their stories, and share a little of ours. ❤️

A few hours away from our screens, surrounded by handmade art, good conversations, and real people. It’s a little breather we always look forward to. ✨

Montréal, come spend another weekend with us, full of handmade art, human connection, and lots of love! 🍂

📸 A little photo recap of last weekend at @collectifcreatifmtl 🤍

We arrived feeling a little nervous about trying a different booth setup. We had practiced putting it together so many times at home, but you can never quite picture the final result… because you’re the ones who bring it to life. Thank you for filling our little space with so much love. ✨

Behind every market, there’s so much preparation, excitement, and nervousness about how it will all turn out. And somehow, you always make the experience more beautiful than we imagined. ❤️

Finding our identity as a brand has taken years. For a long time, we tried to look more like the brands we admired: a little more understated, fewer colors, a little less of everything…

But little by little, we understood that the way we embrace color is part of who we are. We come from Colombia, from maximalism, vibrant colors, and the joy of mixing them without holding back. Learning to make room for all of that in Awaska has been such a beautiful part of this journey. 🌈

We’re still figuring things out, and we probably will be for a long time. Thank you for being part of our story and growing alongside us.

See you next weekend at @collectifcreatifmtl. Same place, bringing all our color. ❤️🥰

What do you think of our new booth? Too much color… or just enough? 😅 🌈

Some Awaska classics that found new homes this weekend at @collectifcreatifmtl ❤️ so we’re already working on a restock! ✨

We absolutely love making these flowers. They were actually one of the very first beading techniques we learned, and for a long time, they were pretty much all we made. 🥹❤️

We love how these pieces have stayed with us from the very beginning and continue to find a place in every collection and every season. ✨

Which ones are your favorites? 😏❤️
