I am against #war.

I’ve taught ethics in graduate school for years, and I’m well versed in analyzing the current war from a #utilitarian point of view. Some consider this war different because it may create “the greatest happiness for the greatest number” by taking down a nasty dictator. However, the moral balance sheet I see in my head does not add up.

The #trauma and mental health consequences of war create far more negative outcomes, which is why I hate war—and the entire warfare industry and its business side.

Alas, I try to remain #hopeful for the sake of my mental health. 🕊️

I tried some cherry blossom watercolor painting with the wedge brushes recently and now I’m a big fan!

I can add this to the quote: it’s only us who can set up gates, locks, and bolts upon the freedom of our minds by getting stuck in fear. 💭

I’m missing my #Sarir calligraphy classes, and can’t wait to get back to my regular practice.

Translation of the poem from #NimaYoushij:

From every dream, one must seek a hope;
For every hope was once a dream to begin with.

With every dream comes another passing through;
For humankind is ever drawn to journey on.

Tell him a morsel of bread may satisfy his hunger;
Yet his heart remains bold, yearning to pursue its own work.

باید از هر خیال امیدی جست
هر امیدی، خیال بود نخست

هست با هر خیال دیگر گذر
آدمیزاده را هوای سفر

گو کفی نان بدارد او را سیر
باشد اما دلش به کار دلیر
