This season of my life has been a dream. I became a nurse because I wanted and needed to become a midwife. I have no words to describe what accomplishing my goal feels like. It has been a long road filled with blood, sweat and many tears. If you know my story then you know how hard I have fought to be here and just how special this is to me. I am so grateful for my family and friends. Their support and love carried me through especially when I felt I could not keep going. I’m so happy and incredibly proud of myself. The long (and often sleepless) nights were worth it. I’m not completely done but will be soon and cannot wait for that MSN, CNM behind my name💕

Today is where your book begins, the rest is still Unwritten 🎵 @natashabedingfield

I just had the most unbelievable 3 days in Ojai, California with my @wearfigs family and words cannot begin to describe the experience we shared. We laughed. We cried (maybe even sobbed). We were vulnerable with each other in ways that many of us have not experienced before. Most importantly, we formed friendships that I know will last a lifetime.

This retreat was such a blessing and renewed my soul in ways I did not know I needed. Thank you to FIGS and an even bigger thank you to my community and friends. You all held space for me and my story and I will be forever grateful to each and every one of you. There are no adequate words to describe how incredible the last 3 days have been. I never thought I would be able to speak with members of congress on Capitol Hill to advocate for not only myself but for healthcare workers across the U.S. I’m just a little brown girl from North Philly. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be given an opportunity to tell my story and have my voice be heard.

Advocacy is so important and it is how real change happens. Yesterday we spoke to Senators and Representatives to ask for their support for 3 bills that will benefit all of us. We asked for support for:

1. The AWESOME HUMANS Act which will provide well deserved tax credits for healthcare providers (including Vet Med🐶). This bill was written by FIGS and the team at Venable so it is very special.
2. The Dr. Lorna Breen Healthcare Provider Protection Reauthorization Act which would provide much needed Mental Health resources and support. So many folks in healthcare are struggling and need help. This bill would help so many gain access to care and reduce burnout.
3. Patients Over Paperwork: The Reducing Medically Unnecessary Delays In Care Act which would drastically reduce the time healthcare providers spend doing prior authorizations and charting. This valuable time can be used providing direct patient care.

Lastly, this whole event and opportunity would not have been possible with @jordan.vivian. Thank you to for hard work, dedication and passion for advocacy. I may have a new career in the future because of you.

Happy Perinatal Nurses Week! This one was super special because it’ll be the last one that I celebrate as a nurse. It’s been a beautiful, grueling, heartbreaking and joyous 11 years as a Labor and Delivery nurse. It is such an honor to take care of patients in one of the most vulnerable stages of their lives. I have cried happy tears. I have cried devastatingly sad tears. I have been covered in all kinds of bodily fluids. I have had patients recognize me out in the wild and be excited to see me. I love what I do. I love being a nurse. I love the lifelong friend that I have made along the way. Stepping into this new midwifery role is exciting but also scary. I look forward to celebrating next Perinatal Nurses Week as a provider💗💙 by @awkward_nurse

This drop is always my favorite but not because of the pretty colors. I love the pink but what I love more is the message behind it.

@wearfigs partners with @letsfcancer to put their money where their mouth is and donates thousands of dollars to help others in their fight against cancer.

Stepping into this new chapter as a midwife I will be a provider who helps my patients through a breast cancer diagnosis and I don’t take that lightly. I always say that I want my patients to feel safe, heard and loved and I mean it. I will be there to advocate for them and to listen. Celebrate their victories and hold their hand during tough battles.

The release of F-ing Pink and Fighting Pink is so special. Breast cancer is personal for me and I get a mammogram every year due to family history.
