💕 A MUM AND DAUGHTER LOOKING FOR A HOME TOGETHER! 🐾

Meet Nango & Lora, a beautiful mum-and-daughter duo searching for their forever home! These two share an incredibly special bond and are happiest doing life side by side, whether that’s spending time with their people or simply relaxing together. They can struggle when separated, so Nango and Lora must be adopted together.

They’re currently spending some time in foster care with two other dogs, giving them a little break from shelter life while they wait for their forever family.

Nango & Lora are affectionate girls who would be suited to a home with children of all ages. They could also live with dog-friendly cats, provided introductions are slow and thoughtful. They’re even suited to a family who works full-time, as they have each other for company while their humans are away.

Lora has hip dysplasia and will need ongoing medical care. To help make sure this special pair can stay together, AWL will continue to cover Lora’s medical costs for her care. 💗

Now, all they need is a family willing to open their hearts and home to both of them. Could you be the one to give this gorgeous pair the forever home they deserve?

🏡 Can you give Nango & Lora their happily ever after?

📩 Get in touch with AWL to find out more about adopting this special duo. Please share to help us find their perfect family!

💙 KOVU NEEDS A FOSTER HOME! 💙

Meet Kovu! He might look big and scary, but underneath all that size is an absolute marshmallow of a boy. 🥹

Kovu is a big, sweet boy who loves a game of tug just as much as he loves a cuddle. He’s incredibly smart and picks up on obedience quickly, making him a rewarding dog for someone willing to continue his training and help him be the best boy he can be.

Kovu is looking for a foster home to give him a soft place to land, especially as he’ll need surgery in the future and a comfortable place to recover. He’ll need a calm environment where he can rest and heal without too much excitement.

Due to his size, Kovu can get a little mouthy when playing, so an adult-only home or one with older children would be best. He’ll need an owner who understands the importance of setting clear boundaries and providing consistent guidance for a dog his size.

Kovu needs a home with secure 6ft fencing, no cats, and ideally a part-time worker. He may be able to live with another dog, but this would depend on the setup, as he’ll need to be kept calm and rested during his recovery.

This big boy has so much love to give, and we’d love to find someone who can look past his size and see the big softie underneath. 💙

Could you be Kovu’s soft place to land? If you can offer this sweet boy a foster home, please get in touch with AWL. Sharing his post could also help us find the right person for him! 🐾

Thanks for meeting us this weekend!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by Petstock Gregory Hills on Saturday to meet our small animals. It was lovely chatting with so many of you about rabbits and guinea pigs, and answering all your questions about what’s involved in adopting or fostering one.

Whether you came along looking to adopt or just wanted a cuddle with our cattle dog pup Cheryl, we’re so grateful you took the time to spend the day with us. Our team loved every conversation, and our small animals soaked up the attention.

If you didn’t get the chance to make it, or you’re still thinking about welcoming a rabbit or guinea pig into your home, we’d still love to hear from you. Our small animals are still looking for their forever families, feel free to get in touch with our team to find out more.

Meet the Protein Treat Your Dog Has Probably Never Tried!

Did you know some dogs are allergic to the very foods most treats are made from? Chicken, beef, lamb, dairy and wheat are common culprits behind itchy skin, upset tummies and general discomfort.

One option for dogs with sensitivities is a novel protein, which simply means one your dog hasn't eaten before. Because their immune system doesn't recognise it, it's much less likely to set off the same reaction. Black soldier fly larvae are a sustainably farmed insect protein that fits the bill, and they're also highly digestible, which is gentle on sensitive stomachs. It's the main ingredient in treats from our sponsor, BuggyBix, which are grain-free, gluten-free and meat-free.

If you think your dog might have a food sensitivity, a chat with your vet is always the best first step. Many of the dogs who come through our doors have sensitive tummies, so it's something we see often.

You'll find BuggyBix at our reception, and every dog adopted from us goes home with a free sample to try. Thank you to @buggybix for supporting the dogs in our care! by @awlnsw

🐾 KIMBA IS LOOKING FOR A MEDICAL FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME! 🐾

Meet Kimba, a bubbly, affectionate girl who’s ready to swap shelter life for a comfy home of her own!

Kimba is a big fan of pats, loves her toys, and is wonderfully food motivated. She already knows her basic commands and is always keen to get involved, whether that’s learning something new or throwing herself into playtime!

💕 Why does Kimba need a foster home?

Kimba has been experiencing ongoing stomach issues, and our vets are still working to determine the underlying cause. It may be related to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), stress, or a combination of factors, with the shelter environment potentially contributing to her symptoms.

A home environment will give Kimba the chance to relax and allow us to monitor how she goes outside of the shelter.
Depending on how she responds, she may also need a trial of a hypoallergenic diet to help manage her symptoms.

🏡 What kind of home is Kimba looking for?

Kimba would love a family who can provide her with plenty of affection, enrichment and continued training. She can suit a full-time working household with the right mental stimulation, loves other dogs but needs appropriate introductions, and would be best suited to a home without cats. Pet-savvy kids are also welcome!

We're looking for either a medical foster home or a foster-to-adopt (FTA) home willing to support Kimba while we work through her ongoing stomach issues.

Could you be the person who gives Kimba a much-needed break from shelter life? Even opening your home to help us better understand her needs could make a huge difference. ❤️

Please share to help Kimba find the home she needs. 🐶

🩺💙 Happy Vet Nurse Day! 💙🩺

Today, we’re celebrating our incredible vet nurses and the amazing work they do for our animals, every single day!

Our vet nurses are here at the shelter 7 days a week, caring for the animals in our care and supporting our private clients, too.
From providing essential medical care to offering comfort, kindness and support when it’s needed most, they play such an important role in what we do.

Our shelter simply wouldn’t be the same without them, and we’re so grateful for the dedication, compassion and hard work they bring every day. 🐾

To our wonderful vet nursing team, thank you for everything you do for the animals and the people who love them. Today, and every day, we appreciate you! 💙

Help us celebrate our amazing vet nurses in the comments! 👏🐶🐱 by @awlnsw
