She has never spoken a word.
She has never once needed to, for us to hear her.

Every child speaks. Some just don’t use words. So we learn their language.

But at twenty one, the services end. The school. The support. The structure. All of it, on a birthday.

Love doesn’t end at twenty one. Support does.

That’s why A Work in Progress and Love @awploveorg exists. We Advocate for families in the fight right now, through the Bridge Fund. We Educate, through the Alchemy School in Chicago. And we Build, through our Love Community in Texas, a town where adults like our children can live a whole life, surrounded and safe.

So no family has to carry the question alone. What happens when we’re gone.

Join us for A Night of Love.

A number that changes how you see a classroom.

Boys are identified with autism about three and a half times as often as girls. In the most recent CDC count, about one in twenty boys was identified.

That gap does not mean girls are not there. It means too many girls are missed, or found years later than they should have been.

Every child deserves to be seen early, and seen clearly. That is the work we show up for, every day.

In Texas, families can wait up to twenty years for services that may never arrive.

Twenty years.

We are building the place those families are waiting for. A lifespan community in Texas where autistic adults can live, learn, work, and belong.

Every ticket and every sponsorship for A Night of Love moves a family off that waitlist and toward a real address, a real classroom, a real job.

Faena Forum, Miami Beach
Red carpet 6:30 to 7:30 PM

Autism does not end at graduation.

CDC researchers estimate that 1 in 45 adults in the United States, more than 5.4 million people, are autistic. And in the next ten years, more than a million young people with autism will reach adulthood, where school support ends and families are too often left to figure out the rest alone.

That is why we build for the whole lifespan. It is why our community in Texas where autistic adults can live, learn, work, and belong, matters so much.

Thank you for spending week one learning with us. The countdown continues at the link in our bio: workinprogress.org

Pediatric guidance calls for autism screening at the 18 month and 24 month visits. A reliable diagnosis is possible by age 2. Yet most children are not diagnosed until after their fourth birthday, and every month of waiting is a month of support missed.

If something feels different about your child’s development, trust yourself. Ask for the screening. Ask for the evaluation. Get on the lists early, even before every answer arrives.

That gap between what is possible and what families actually get is why our Advocacy and Bridge Fund exists. Learn more at the link in our bio: workinprogress.org

Some stories start with a diagnosis. Ours started with a daughter.

Kris Hamburger built A Work in Progress and Love so families like his would never have to fight for support alone. His daughter's journey is the heart behind everything we do, and it is the heart of A Night of Love.

Tomorrow we get practical: the early signs, the screening ages, and why no family should ever be told to wait and see. Start at the link in our bio: workinprogress.org
