Hobby Update - 29/08/26 I recently moved house and immediately it was flooded due to a Typhoon so its taken me a bit longer than expected to get settled, on top of starting a new job. Starting to get back into a regular hobby routine and thought I'd share what I have been up to. First, my Dwarf-only #Mordheim Pit Fighters (Minus 1 Leader). They are inspired by @romanlappat.miniatureart fantastic Dwarf Slayer conversions. He showed to me the potential of the AoS Fyreslayer kit once you tame the hair and tone down the oversized axe heads. I took his lessons and made my Dwarf Gladiators #sharethehobbylove #Warhammercommunity #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld Hobby Update - 29/08/26 I recently moved house and immediately it was flooded due to a Typhoon so its taken me a bit longer than expected to get settled, on top of starting a new job. Starting to get back into a regular hobby routine and thought I'd share what I have been up to. Secondly, I have been working on my Pirate Queen. She'll be carried into battle upon a small ceremonial ship, to represent Shieldbearers. She's converted from the Queen Helga model, with a repositioned right arm, new weapon, a pirate hat, and most importantly, a big feather. #sharethehobbylove #Warhammercommunity #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #DwarvenMountainHold Seven Dwarf Gladiators by @axe_and_oath

New face for Axe & Oath. When I first created this account, I used an AI-generated profile picture as a placeholder while I figured out exactly what I wanted the identity of the page to be. It was always my intention to replace it with artwork commissioned from a real artist. I'm incredibly happy to finally unveil the new logo, created by the wonderfully talented @grimdorables Thank you for bringing my favourite Slayer to life! The Dwarf featured here is Balkrag Grimgorson, without question my favourite Slayer in Warhammer. His story perfectly captures everything I love about the Slayer Cult—unyielding determination, honour in the face of impossible odds, and the relentless pursuit of a worthy doom. Supporting artists has always been important to me, so I'm delighted that Axe & Oath now has an original piece of artwork to represent it. Please go and show @grimdorables some love—they were an absolute pleasure to work with. #warhammer #warhammercommunity #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #dwarvenmountainholds A stylised logo showing a skeletal Dwarf Slayer with a large crimson-red Slayer crest (mohawk) carefully painting a tiny Slayer miniature held in its left hand. The skeleton uses a fine paintbrush and the miniature mirrors its own appearance, complete with a red crest and axe. Both figures are framed within a dark circular background above a parchment banner reading "AXE & OATH." The illustration combines miniature painting with the iconic Warhammer Slayer aesthetic in a playful, hand-drawn style. by @axe_and_oath

⚒️ Ungdrin Ankor Patrol ⚒️ What if the Dwarfs had an Army of Infamy dedicated entirely to the forgotten roads beneath the mountains? The Ungdrin Ankor Patrol exchanges grand battle lines for small, elite patrols tasked with defending the Underway from Skaven, Goblins and the countless horrors lurking in the darkness. New army composition, new heroes, new units and an entirely different way to wage war beneath the World's Edge Mountains. #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #dwarvenmountainholds Special Rules Every Army of Infamy needs its own identity. For the Ungdrin Ankor Patrol, I wanted the army to feel like veteran tunnel fighters rather than a traditional Dwarf throng. Hidden shaft markers, coordinated patrol formations and an unending war against the Skaven all combine to create a force that fights as though it truly belongs beneath the mountains. #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #dwarvenmountainholds Heroes of the Underway Every expedition needs its leaders. The Master Prospector guides patrols through forgotten tunnels, emerging where the enemy least expects. The Ironwarden is the unyielding shield of the Underway, holding narrow passages where a single broken shieldwall could doom an entire hold. Two new heroes built specifically for fighting beneath the mountains. #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #dwarvenmountainholds Dwarf Weapon Teams One of my favourite additions. Rather than borrowing Skaven-style weapon teams, I imagined what specialist engineering crews would look like if they evolved naturally within Dwarf tunnel patrols. Small detachments equipped with excavation machinery, flamethrowers and engineering tools accompany every patrol into the darkness. #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #dwarvenmountainholds Patrol Assets The final page introduces the three specialist Patrol Assets: ⛏️ Excavator Team – Burrow beneath the enemy. 🔥 Flamethrower Team – Burn Skaven from their warrens. 🪨 Stonewright Team – Fortify tunnels, lay traps and control the battlefield. A fan-made Arcane Journal page for Warhammer: The Old World introducing the "Ungdrin Ankor Patrol" Army of Infamy. The page features an army composition list with Characters, Core, Special and Rare choices in the official Games Workshop style, alongside sepia artwork of an ancient underground Dwarf hold carved into vast caverns. by @axe_and_oath

I've been quietly working on something alongside the army... 🎲 Sets of custom dice for my Dwarfs, each one featuring runes, clan marks, or symbols inspired the Lore of the Old World. What started as a project for my own collection has somehow expanded into making sets for a few fellow Dwarf players too. There's something deeply satisfying about rolling dice that feel like they actually belong to the army on the table. Which set is your favourite? C&C always welcome. #warhammer #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld A collage displaying six different sets of custom six-sided dice designed for Warhammer Dwarf armies against a solid black background. The sets include white dice with black runes, marbled red dice with white clan symbols, bright red dice with stylised mountain icons, black dice engraved with white Dwarf runes, emerald green dice featuring gold ancestral masks, and royal blue dice decorated with ornate gold hold emblems. Each set is stacked in a pyramid formation and photographed under studio lighting, highlighting the engraved symbols and glossy finish. by @axe_and_oath

Just finished City of the Damed. A welcome reprieve from Road of Skulls. Gotreks and Felix's relationship felt real and lived, and it was really interesting explore the Empire Flaggellants and their relationship with Sigmar. Without Serpent Queen on Audio I will have to skip it while I paint unfortunately. Onto Kinslayer #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #Mordheim @warhammerofficial - When will Serpent Queen come out on Audio? by @axe_and_oath

We’ve been diving deep into the lore and hobby of The Old World. Heavily inspired and encouraged by the incredible work of @squarebasedpodcast Rob and Val; we decided to try creating our own Arcane Journal for the Norscan Dwarfs; a faction we’ve always wanted to see brought to life in the Old World. This is our vision of a Norsca-flavored battle-hardened Dwarf army. Swipe to see pages, units, and runes from our fanmade Army of Infamy #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld #Dwarvenmountainholds by @axe_and_oath

The Jungles of Lustria have claimed many lives… but these Dwarfs came looking for death 🪓 My Apocalypto-inspired Slayer Mordheim warband, finally complete (for now). A mix of jungle aesthetics, Aztec influence, and the glorious insanity of the Slayer Cult. Easily some of my favourite conversions and most enjoyable models I have painted in years. Huge thanks again to all the support and the inspiration that kicked this whole project off. Now the question is… Do they remain in Lustria? Or are the scorching sands of Araby calling next? #Mordheim #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy #warhammeroldworld by @axe_and_oath

After nearly 2.5 years of snowy Karak Kadrin Slayers, it has been a real breath of fresh air to disappear into the Jungles of Lustria for a while. First off, thank you again to @tom_paint_n_build for the inspiration. I had always wanted a small #Mordheim side project as a hobby “palette cleanser”, but it wasn’t until I saw his incredible mutated Saurus conversions that the idea finally clicked into place: Apocalypto Slayers. I have mentioned this before, but I traditionally struggle with painting models individually. For me, the effort-to-reward ratio has always felt much better in batch painting units. These guys pushed me out of that comfort zone, though, and honestly, I am really glad they did. Some of these may genuinely be my favourite Slayer conversions I have done. In true Mordheim fashion, the project evolved as I worked on it. Somewhere between converting and painting the warband, WranglerFuzzy updated the rules so the Rememberer can no longer be human! I doubt it will matter much in our games… but it does give me an excuse to convert another model. Likewise, during this project, I discovered an active Mordheim group in Shanghai. Unless I somehow convince them all to move the campaign to Lustria (and let me build all the jungle terrain), it looks like my Dwarfs may soon be heading to the scorching sands of Araby instead. Saracen Dwarfs incoming… You may also notice the updated warband logo. The original AI-generated image was always intended as a placeholder, and I always said I would eventually commission a proper artist-made version. So huge thanks to @nightgrowler for creating this amazing Dwarf Aztec coin inspired by the cursed medallions from Pirates of the Caribbean. Lastly, the final image includes the paints and recipes used across the warband. Admittedly, that is partly for my own reference in six months when I forget how I painted them… but hopefully some of it proves useful to others too #warhammer #warhammercommunity #sharethehobbylove #warhammerfantasy by @axe_and_oath
