The rent is due, and my family is living under immense psychological pressure. As if the loss, deprivation, displacement, and humiliation we have endured—and continue to endure—were not enough. My little girl, Habiba, is suffering from Viral Hepatitis; she desperately needs medical attention and specialized nutrition. She is also in agony from severe dental pain and needs to see a dentist immediately.
The weather is freezing, and we lack the simplest essentials to keep ourselves warm. Life is incredibly harsh, and I often wonder if any world leader truly cares about our fate. I don’t even know where to begin describing our basic struggles.
I have no one but you, my friends, to lean on. You are the comfort God has sent me to ease my burden. I fear being a burden to you, but I am forced by desperate necessity to ask for your support for my family’s relief fund. You are the ones who truly care.

FEEL GOOD BARGAINS!! Tomorrow!!! Sunday 27th September 1-4pm at @margateartsclub #friendsofmanar is hosting a flash clothes sale to raise funds for Manar, Esam, their two little daughters Habiba and Hour. Manar has been working tirelessly on university applications, even while pregnant, and every single penny that we raise will go to this beautiful family and support their basic survival needs in the wreckage they are forced to survive in. 🇵🇸 FRIENDS OF MANAR 🇵🇸

Join us on Saturday 23rd May | 6–8.30pm for an evening of community, creativity, and care ❤️

We’re coming together to raise vital funds for our friend Manar @hoor.2034 in Gaza — through dance, food, craft, music, and connection.

We’re incredibly honoured to be joined by @juzourdanceco an all-women Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) dance collective, who will be leading a social Palestinian Dabke workshop.

Dabke is a traditional Levantine line dance deeply rooted in Palestinian culture — a powerful expression of unity, resilience, celebration, and connection to the land.

The session will begin with an introduction to the history and cultural context of Dabke, followed by a warm-up and a joyful, beginner-friendly lesson in some of the core movements and steps.

No dance experience needed — just come as you are ❤️

Today is my sister's birthday; she turned 22. Because I'm preoccupied with our own worries, and Hawa is ill, Habiba decided to make a gift for her aunt. She saved up her school allowance for two days and bought her chocolates. She colored, cut, and pasted to create this beautiful picture to make her aunt happy and show her love and care. May God protect you, Habiba, and preserve your kind heart that cares for others. My family and I need your support to cover the monthly rent and other essential living expenses. You can't imagine how difficult it is for me to keep asking for help, but unfortunately, we only receive one donation every ten days.

In the second conversation we have with a Palestinian from Gaza, we are honoured to be joined again by Manar Suleiman.

Manar is a 28-year-old Palestinian mother in Gaza, and an artist, fashion designer, and writer. She joins us to share her experiences and perspectives.

In the midst of dehumanising statistics and propaganda, in this episode Manar tells us the human story of her journey of forcible displacement, and about losing contact with her brother, who was the inspiration for writing her book.

The days drag on, heavy with sorrow. I am weary, as if I carry the weight of the world on my heart. It's as if the effects of the nightmare we've lived through for two years, and which continues to this day, are now taking their toll on my health. But as a mother, I cannot give up. Today, I was preoccupied and left Hawa with her grandmother because I wanted to get some rest. As a result, her eye was badly injured. I blame myself terribly. Raising children is a responsibility that requires constant supervision, guidance, education, and ensuring their happiness. I am so happy that my beloved daughter, Habiba, is excelling in her school, but today she had a problem with her teeth and suffered greatly when they were extracted. She buried them because they are part of her body. How I wished then that we could have buried my older brother, so that all these thoughts would leave my mind. Every day I relive different scenarios of my brother's fate. How my heart aches at the thought of his sudden loss. How I long for him. I am certain that all those who wronged us in Gaza will be severely punished and tormented, in this life and the hereafter. I need your support for my children and my family. My mother, my father, my siblings, and my missing brother's children need your support. They will be left homeless. They would be living in a tent on the street if they didn't raise the monthly rent. I’ve learned that strength is not in hardness,
but in a heart that feels pain and does not become cruel.
In a soul that breaks, yet chooses to remain honest, and not resemble its wounds.
I’ve learned that faith does not erase sadness,
but it teaches patience, brings us closer to ourselves, and makes us calmer in facing the world.
I am not searching only for survival,
but for a meaning worthy of being human , one that allows me, despite everything,
to remain human.

My goal now is to resist through my art and designs, for a brighter future for my children, my family, and my country. We are living in Gaza under the worst conditions in the world, with a harsh and bitter winter. The world has abandoned us. Most people don't care about us; they only grieve and don't try to do anything for us. I ask every free person who cares about and resists for Gaza to support my account by sharing it. I pray that God grants you happiness, contentment, and success in this life and the hereafter, and that He protects the hunger-striking prisoners, gives them strength and energy, and frees them and all the prisoners of my people in Palestine.
