Fashion show, but make it elevated 👽

For the past decade I have been blessed to have worked on so many projects for @NIKE to direct & choreograph their fashion shows. However since a lot of the work is confidential I’m not able to share anything in real time. And by the time I can (which is usually a year and a half later) I have simply forgotten what I had done in the past.

Since I am usually focused on what the next target is, I don’t often look back enough to appreciate all these amazing talents I have been fortunate enough to work with. From dancers to freestyle footballers, Bboys & bgirls to athletes, trickers to models. All whom bring absolutely exceptional talent they have devoted their lives for.

It’s always a fun challenge to construct shows together like a puzzle game & I wish to continue creating with more brands and shows as I continue to level up and expand what can be created💪

“AI is the best thing ever, EVERYTHING is all going to get replaced now”

these are the two extreme opinions I would often come across online. I agree and disagree with both, however I wanted to approach the medium/method from more of a curiosity perspective. What if we could actually combine and create something that was close to impossible before?

This was one of the first projects we got to kick this crazy year off with these amazing group of talented individuals.

Although I wanted to just focus on directing for this one, here is one of the little sections that I got to sprinkle my choreography in.

I do wish that we were able to finish the post quicker and release it into the world before AI slop polluted the Internet, but this is just another example moving into the new year to perhaps have your doubts take a backseat more often than you think😅

regardless, I would like to thank each and every individual for sharing your talent, time, and your undivided focus to come together for this one 🙏✨

Choreographing a Dance for Virtual Reality| Client: @meta

Since the final video was in VR format, even though this was such a fun project, I never got around to sharing this. A few years ago, right when the 2nd meta quest headset was about to get released we were asked to choreograph for a video, but not to be experienced 2D but in 3D.

Just to get nerdy for a second, up until that point I had enjoyed VR videos but there was always a feeling that you may be missing something behind you at all times. @canonusa had released a 180 VR Lense, in which you get to experience the full immersive feeling without worrying about missing anything.

I do love creative challenges in all shapes and forms, and in the new year I hope to be able to tackle more projects like this that continue to push the boundaries of what is considered possible. A big shout out to @karenxcheng for bringing everyone together for this one 👏👏

Exciting news! Duet Night Abyss is out and I’m singing the main theme, “As Night Dwells” ✨🎶

From the moment I was invited to bring this track to life, I knew it would be something special: combining sweeping classical elements with a driving electronic beat, the result is epic and emotional.

What made this project even more unforgettable: it was my first time contracting and producing a full music video! I got to hand-select an amazing team of musicians and visual artists, and we spent a full shoot day in high creative gear bringing the concept to life. Being on the creative side and stepping into a bit of the production side felt so empowering.

To my team - the artists, the musicians, the creatives who made this happen: Thank you. It’s an honour and a privilege to be trusted to deliver on both sides of this project. Shoot day was one of the best creative days of my life!

“GHOST”

An experimental concept that I shot 2 years ago that I have still yet to expand a lot on. Thank god for the existence of Art. For it gives the chance for any emotion to become something beautiful. Whether it came from something good or bad, happiness or sadness, love or grief, it all has it’s ways to be expressed.

Another one for the books with @hok x @erica_klein 👏 Couldn’t be happier to work with @imagecauldron @experiencewet @doyleimage to expand a vision that started off just as an imagination. After the experiment we created last year, I wanted to see if we could do that same concept in a much, much larger scale.

I cannot be more thankful to having an AMAZING team of people that came together, & believed in the vision before any of it was even actualized. A massive shoutout to the entire team that made this possible🙌

While people were laughing and mocking AI when it was still generating 6 fingers & extra limbs to create humans, I wanted to see what more could be done.

Why couldn’t it be seen in other ways other than just an error? Why can’t we take advantage of that imperfect nature, to create a setting where the extra limbs and bodies molding into each other could be seen more as a value than a shortcoming!?

What if we could create a dance in real life so that the perfection in our world could give value to the imperfection in the AI world, and for the perfection in the AI world could shine value back to the imperfections in our practical world?

These were some of the thoughts I had a couple years ago when AI was still in its infancy.

As AI continues to expand outwards on our possibilities to express, I wanted to look the other way.

To see within the gap of the real world that we live in & this new wave of AI technology. The gap in between the practical & the artificial… For if you look close & hard enough, you can find that too is an infinite universe there still yet to be discovered.

I think it’s all about leveling up ideas. As a creative, I feel like it is doing a disservice to the idea itself if you’re just taking and not contributing to this collective pot of Art.

I originally loved when I first figured out the circle of life sequence, mainly because of the fact that ANYONE can do it despite any dance training. I was later on told after posting that someone else had also done just the pull in part before (which I give mad props to, and would love to hear their process to see if it was in anyway similar to how I came up with it), but I believe what made this move special was the fact that it came back to the starting point, in which made it possible for the cycle to continue forever!

But there is always so much more you can do to flip a concept. Add more, subtract, change the colours, change the orientation, change the environment etc…

I know it may be a foreign concept especially to those that have never genuinely discovered something themselves, but I wish to gather more minds that are alike that is willing to push the extra mile to discover new findings 👑✨ taken in Los Angeles, California by @axyzm

“It may just be a pure coincidence” (part 2)

But in the sheer chance that it was not, perhaps I should just be happy to have influenced those that influence the mass?

(For context, the movement/video below was what I had created in 2019 while choreographing for @inthelab247 )

I know this move has been copied so many times around the world more than I can keep count, but this one I appreciated that they added the second circle to it.

The day I had come up with the retract-roll out sequence, I had actually filmed a couple different “leveled up” versions of it so I could counter it right away if someone tried to one up it (which one of them was actually the double circle) but was surprised that 99% of people just imitate and not innovate.

The way I see it is, you borrow ideas from this large collective pot called ART. And you do the best you can to either improve the quality of the idea that it becomes better than the original, or you take the concept further that it unlocks a new concept from it…
